Student Development & Support SERVICES
Student Development and Support Services (SDSS) provides a continuum of support services for students and families. SDSS encompasses six program areas with a team of professionals who provide supports and resources in an effort to reduce barriers to academic success and increase college / career readiness. These approaches are grounded in Social Cognitive Theory and Resilience Theory. Social Cognitive Theory stresses the importance of observational learning, imitation and modeling. Resilience Theory explains an individual's ability to successfully adapt in the face of social disadvantage or highly adverse conditions.
The team collaborates with campus staff, various departments throughout AISD, and with many community organizations to provide wraparound supports including individual/group support counseling, crisis intervention, case management, resource development, and resilience training to students enrolled in AISD.
