The purpose of this department is to assist parents who have concerns about an AISD procedure.* A parent will be guided to the appropriate personnel within the district who is best able to fully address the concern. However, steps must be taken before the department seeks assistance outside of the school environment. The director of parent relations manages complaints and concerns from parents. The director's personnel obtain information from the parent and may direct you to the first of the steps outlined below. Additional help is available on a limited basis from the district’s ombudsman, as well. (see below) First steps in the process
Role of the District Ombudsman* At any time after the initial process of contacting and conferencing with the school personnel as outlined above, parents may ask for assistance from the district’s ombudsman (parent liaison). The AISD provides the ombudsman to assist parents in the resolution of conflicts or differences of opinion between parents and school officials.****Please note that the Director of Parent Relations office and the Ombudsman DO NOT review or receive formal appeals regarding a discipline consequence or assignment. This process of appealing offenses is covered in your Student Code of Conduct Handbook under “Student Complaint and Appeal Process” |
