Ditto Elementary

MISSION

Through innovative and relevant learning experiences, students will learn skills necessary to achieve their dreams and become citizens who are leaders in a global world.

VISION

Ditto Elementary’s vision is to be a world-class elementary with a focus on the whole child.

History

Ruth Ditto was born in Kirvin, Texas, and moved to Arlington in 1933. Mrs. Ditto taught in the Arlington ISD for 29 years. She taught third grade for 17 years and remedial reading for 12 years before her retirement.

Her husband Mike Ditto was the first administrator of Arlington Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ditto served as a volunteer at the hospital after retiring.

Ditto Elementary opened in 1977, and the dedication ceremony was held on Dec. 11, 1977. First United Methodist Church pastor Dr. Jack Payne, retired AISD teacher Grace Atherton and retired Superintendents Woodrow Counts and James Martin shared dedicatory remarks at the ceremony.
