Hi Hill Families!

I wanted to update you all on some exciting staffing updates for the 24-25 school year!

Today I am starting with our 1st grade team! Our wonderful and beautiful Mrs. Peek will be retiring at the end of this school year. We are going to miss her SO much! She has been a dedicated educator for 31 years and has impacted thousands of lives during that time!

Next year in 1st grade there will be 4 sections so we had the opportunity to hire/gain two new teachers! I want you to meet our two new first grade teachers for the 24-25 school year! They are both going to do tremendous work here at Hill!

Picture 1: Betty Davis, current 2nd grade teacher at Pope ES
Picture 2: Isabel Davalos, current ESSER TA at Hill ES!

Here are some fun facts about both sweet, new teachers to Hill!

My name is Betty Davis, I am a mama of two (Addison, 8 & Koltyn Jr, 6) and will be celebrating my 10th anniversary this summer with my wonderful husband, Koltyn! I have lived all over the state of Texas but settled in the DFW when my husband and I decided to move to his hometown. I completed my undergrad at Texas Tech University and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas Wesleyan University. The 24-25 school year will be my 3rd year in AISD and my 11th year in education. I have taught Pre-K and 1st grade.

Something unique about me:
I love to read and craft. If I am not reading, I am either crafting or cheering my son on at the ballpark! I played softball for 17 years and am excited my love of the game has transferred to my own kiddos!

What you are most looking forward to in being the first-grade teacher at Hill next year:

I am excited for the new faces and experiences! I love the feeling of being a part of a school environment that feels like a family, and I am ready to be a part of the Hill family!!

My name is Isabel Davalos. I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Health and a minor in Biology. I have always had a strong passion for helping others and giving back to the community. I love working with kids and being able to have a positive impact in their lives. I also have a strong love for animals and have two fur babies with whom I love to go on walks with (and spoil with treats).

A unique or fun fact about me would be that I love to challenge myself and learn new things. Whether it's a new language or a new sourdough recipe, I would love to try it!

There is so much that I am looking forward to as a 1st Grade Teacher. One of the main things would be the ability to cultivate a safe, loving, and welcoming space for my learners to come to everyday. I am also looking forward to helping them grow and blossom academically and as young individuals!

It is going to be a great year in first grade! Follow along for more staffing updates!

Love,
Mrs. Longoria

Come out and join us next Friday for our annual Autism Awareness Walk.

Hi Families! This week I have a LOT to share so I am keeping the Monday Messenger consolidated so nothing gets lost! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Upcoming Dates:
4-16: Science STAAR for 5th Grade. Campus will be closed to visitors
4-19: Highlander Games for PK-2 grade! PTA will be selling concessions during their time outside too, just FYI!
4-22 to 4-26: Admin Assistant Week! See below our clerk, Mrs. Durr and our secretary, Mrs. Lopez's favorite things!
4-22 to 4-26: Volunteer Appreciation Week!
4-23: 5/6 Reading STAAR. Campus will be closed to visitors
4-24: 3/4 Reading STAAR. Campus will be closed to visitors
4-26: Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in the library! Please come by between 7:50-8:30 if you volunteer in ANY way at Hill and grab breakfast and fellowship with other volunteers. Location: Hill Library
4-26: Autism Acceptance Walk from 5:00-7:00 at Hill on the track!

Things to Note:
-Ms. Stevenson is cancelling the rest of her Common Sense Parenting classes for the next 5 weeks. No one showed up last week and she realized that a six weeks session in the fall and a six weeks session in the spring vs doing 2 sessions in the spring next year will be better for our families!
-Ms. Stevenson is wanting volunteers for career day! Career Day is May 9th and it is from 1:30-3:30. If you are interested in sharing with our kids about what you do for a living please fill out this link here: docs.google.com/document/d/1NUjxsX3wNz0OJYpWRAED2UOFpfY8ISLc43Wa8vnYDBY/edit
-Coach Mitchell could use approved volunteers to help her out during Field Day! If you are an approved volunteer and are free on May 3rd, please fill out the link here:
www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0844AEAA28A3F5C16-49100014-field

I think that is it for now! Please Please make sure your kiddos are coming to school daily. Even though we are nearing the end of the year our attendance matters. Unless they are sick, please please be here!

Thank you all so much for all you do to make our kiddos successful and feel so loved!

Love,
Mrs. Longoria
