Lamar Contact

Q. Is it really important that we (camper and parent/guardian) attend the mandatory camp meeting?

A. Yes, we will go over final details regarding camp including what can/cannot be brought to camp, etc. Next, we will verify that we have all paperwork completed and take in any remaining money due.

Q. Who can attend camp?

A. Freshmen who will be entering Lamar this fall can attend camp. If the student is entering from a school other than Nichols or Shackelford, then the student must be enrolled at Lamar prior to the camp registration deadline.

Q. Who serves as chaperones at camp?

A. Lamar teachers will serve as the primary chaperones at camp. In addition, approximately 10 upperclassmen help lead and run activities.

Q. What time do we need to arrive at Lamar on August 11th (first day of camp)? What time will camp end on August 12th?

A. Students will need to arrive before 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 11th. Camp activities will conclude on August 12th at 9 pm.

Q. If we are applying for a scholarship, when will you let us know if we will be receiving the assistance?

A. Evidence of need will be verified, and the number of total scholarship requests will be taken into consideration. Once we know the number of scholarships that we will be able to fund, you will be contacted during the last part of June or the early part of July.

Q. What if my son/daughter takes medication?

A. All medication must be given to the nurse on arriving at the Lamar campus on August 11th. The medication must be in original containers with the original label in place. The nurse will administer the medications at camp. No medications (of any kind) are to be kept by students.
