Mr. McQuitty is our only Assistant Principal who is a native of Arlington and a graduate of Lamar High School. He was on the staff of the Viking Scroll, and he was a member of the tennis team. He was also selected as the recipient of the "Who's Who" award in social studies.

Mr. McQuitty attended Texas Tech University where he earned his teaching certificate and majored in political science. He received his Master of Education from the University of North Texas in 1988.

After teaching at Barnett Junior High, Workman Junior High, and Bowie High School, he came to Lamar as an assistant principal in the fall of 1997.

In addition to his responsibilities with attendance and discipline, Mr. McQuitty oversees On Campus Suspension, Choices, and is responsible for our textbook inventory.

Mr. McQuitty enjoys all aspects of his job, but he especially likes helping students and teachers solve problems by listening to their concerns and helping them find a solution that they might not have considered on their own. He also enjoys facilitating the communication process between students, teachers, and parents.

In his free time Mr. McQuitty coaches soccer and basketball. He also enjoys playing basketball. He is an avid skier-a real speed demon on the slopes. His favorite mountain is Keystone, Colorado.
