Joyce Ryles,
Assistant Principal Ms. Ryles grew up in her hometown
of Miami, Florida. In high school her extra-curricular
activities were cheerleading, track, and theater arts.
She attended Florida International University where she
earned her degree in education with a minor in psychology.
Her Master's Degree in Counseling is from Dallas Baptist
University.
All of her teaching experience has been in Arlington ISD,
at Ellis and Farrell Elementary Schools and Carter Junior
High, before joining the Lamar faculty in 2001 as an assistant
principal. She works with the Site Based Decision Making
Committee, student teachers, the lunch duty schedule,
paraprofessionals, cheerleaders, Youth NAACP, the Vi-Queens
Drill Team, and the STEP Team in addition to her primary
duties with student attendance and discipline.
Mrs. Ryles values relating to her students, and she believes
that being a good listener is the best way to accomplish
this.
Most of her free time is spent with her church family,
which includes her daughter and two sons. Her other hobbies
include designing and sewing clothes, painting, gardening,
and athletic activities such as running marathons.
