Pat Driessen

Ms. DriessenI have taught in the business department at Martin since the '95-'96 school year. I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1984. After having spent several years working in the business sector, I attended Texas Wesleyan University to earn my teaching certificates in Secondary Basic Business in 1991 and Secondary Mathematics Grades (6th-12th) in 1992.

I have taught in both certification areas for the AISD, but my favorite subjects to teach are any of the business computer classes. I believe computer skills used for both personal and business purposes are necessary for every student to learn in order to be successful. I frequently tell my students, "Forget NO PASS, NO PLAY; in the 'REAL WORLD', it's NO LEARN, NO EARN." I tell my students that they can earn their LBP (Learner by Practice) in my computer classes just as I have done. Teaching students to become life-long learners is paramount if they are to become productive members of society.

Seekers Sponsor

Ms. Wood
This is my 20th year to teach. I started teaching at North Mesquite High School in August of 1987, where I taught Typing, Economics, and Business math for 2 years. Because of a drop of enrollment, I was moved to Mesquite High School where I taught for 7 years (Typing, Economics, Business Math, Accounting and Accounting II). Because of my husband's job, we moved to Arlington, so I was fortunate enough to get a job here at Martin, and have been here for 10 years ( this is my 11th year here). I currently teach BCIS I and Business Support Systems. I have taught Accounting and Personal Finance here as well. I also help Rynthia Clements and Marilyn Broyles sponsor Seekers (Martin's student-led Christian club) here at Martin High School.

My husband is Randy, and he works as the Loss Prevention Internal Investigations Manager for Neiman Marcus. I have two children (Nicholas --age 13-- 8th grade at Young Junior High and Lauren --age 11-- 5th grade at Little Elementary). We have one dog -- Chip. As a family, we love camping and are very involved in our church (Lake Arlington Baptist Church).
