• Are you interested in owning your own business someday? If you are a minority student, you are invited to participate in the 2009 Minority Youth Business Retreat on November 20. Application packets and more information is available in the Counseling Office. See Mrs. Broker.

• This Tuesday, November 10, representatives from Dallas Baptist University and the University of Dallas in Irving will be available in the Counseling Center Foyer from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. to meet prospective students and answer any questions you may have about attending their universities. Remember the Counseling Center is now open EVERY Tuesday until 7:30 P.M.

• Tickets for Friday's football game against Lamar will be sold before and after school Tuesday through Friday. Come to the bookkeeping office down the hall of justice. Avoid the lines on Friday, get your TODAY!
• Congratulations to Mrs. Jacqueline Echols - you're the NHS Teacher of the Month. Thanks for A-PUSH in the right direction!
• Martin Players is proud to present the 2nd production of the 2009-2010 Theatre Season, The Boys Next Door by Tom Griffin. This fun, yet heartwarming story centers on a group of mentally challenged men and their caretaker in New England. The play will be performed November 12, 13, 14, with a special show on November 16 at 7:30 P.M. in the Little Theater. Tickers are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Sales start today at lunch in front of the Little Theater. Seating is limited so get your seats early.
• We have a lot of students that have negative balances and we need to get them cleared up as soon as possible. We would appreciate it if those of you who owe could please make an effort to clear your accounts. We will check negative balances again on Friday November 6 and if accounts are not cleared up, we will be sending out notices to the parents. Thank you so much for your support in this matter.

• If you plan on trying out for the boy's soccer team and you are not enrolled in the Soccer Athletic Period, there will be a mandatory meeting in room 186B at 12:25 during lunch on November 5. You must attend this meeting if you plan on trying out.
• Hey Warriors...It is Red Cross Blood Drive Time! If you are 17 years old and in good health you can sign up to donate blood. Sign-up sheets are available in your Senior English Classes or outside room 250. Sign-up before November 13! The blood drive is on the Tuesday before the Thanksgiving break. It only takes about 45 minutes to donate. Think of the lives you could save!
• ASL Honor Society officers: There will be an officers meeting on Wednesday, this week at lunch in Mrs. Daniel's room. Calling all ASL Honor Society Members: There will be an ASL Honor Society meeting this Thursday at lunch in Mrs. Daniel's' room 297. Don't miss it! Bring your forms and dues - don't forget!
• Students! Please remember that on Friday, November 6, we will be on Pep Rally schedule. If you leave campus for lunch, make sure you are back for the beginning of your 4th period class at 12:52.

• Hey Geo Clubbers. There is a big time meeting this Thursday, November 5th, during lunch in room 101. Bring yourself, your buds, and your pizza money to the meeting. See Mr. Ellis if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!
• Please support Martin's Italian Exchange students who will travel to Italy in March by eating at the South Cooper Chick Fil A this evening between 5:00 and 8:00. Just mention Junior World Affairs Council when you order. Thanks!

• If you are interested in earning college credit while in high school through the Tarrant County Junior College Tech Prep Program please attend and informational meeting in the Little Theater at 6pm, November 3, Tuesday.
• Psychology club members that have paid dues, turned in their paperwork, and are interested in participation in the sleep facility tour please see Mrs. Peterson ASAP. The Sleep Lab Tour is Friday, November 6. And space is limited.
• Attention Invisible Children members there will be an important meeting Wednesday after school in room 207. Everyone must attend.

• Students! Please be aware that it is vital that when crossing the street that you use the designated cross walks in front of Martin. You can be ticketed for jaywalking. Jaywalking is a serious offense. Please use the crosswalks for your safety and protection.
• The FFA meat orders arrive today. Please pick your orders up in the Ag. classroom today between 2:45 and 5:00.

• Arriba! Come on down to room 207 on Friday for a meet and greet with the Hispanic Student Association Members. Everyone is welcomed. Come and join the fiesta and enjoy some snacks. OLE!

• Tickets for Friday's game against Mansfield Summit will be sold before and after school Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They will be sold ONLY before class on Friday. There will be NO tickets sold after 10:30 Friday morning. Please inform your parents. Come to the book keeping office, down the hall of Justice with exact change.
• Hey you ping pong lovers! Remember that our first practice is this Thursday after school from 3 to 4:30 in Mr. Cadle's room, 184B. BYO Paddle and 5 dollars for club dues, balls will be provided. See you then!
• The next Asian Culture Club meeting will be this Thursday in room 286 C. We will discuss officer elections. See you there.

• Hey Geo Clubbers. Don't forget that this Wednesday, October 28 is our first Cici's Pizza night. Just go in between 5:30 to closing, make your purchase and put your receipt in the can by the register. Hope to see you there. See Mr. Ellis if you have any questions.
• Attention TFME members - The entire UNT music school faculty is going to be at Lamar High School this Wednesday, October 28 at 3:15 PM in the Lamar High School orchestra room to talk to all of the TFME members in Arlington. This is an amazing opportunity to meet the UNT faculty and talk to them about how to get into music school. All you need to do is show up, so please try to make it there by 3:15. Thank you!

• Check it out!! Martin cafeteria is now going to offer ALL entrees to you on ALL the main serving lines every day! We are also working on getting another register, and hope that this will make eating lunch with us more convenient for everyone.
• Any FFA member who has a show goat project must meet at Clover Ln. today at 3:00. We will be going to Grapevine for state validation. Please have your social security number with you.

• This past weekend the preliminary and final rounds of the Texas Music Educators Association String Honor Orchestra competition were held in Austin. The Martin High School Symphony Orchestra now only made the finals but placed 4th in the state of Texas! This is the third year in a row the orchestra has made the string orchestra finals. Congratulations to all the Martin High School orchestra students and directors and on this incredible achievement.

• Next Tuesday, October 27th, representatives from Texas Christian University, The University at Arlington and the U.S. Marines will be available in the library foyer from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. to meet prospective students and answer any questions you may have. Remember the Counseling Center is now open on EVERY Tuesday until 7:30 P.M.

• Martin High School, your school needs you to help earn First Place in the State in UIL. One part is the Literary Criticism contest. Go to Project Gutenberg and read Samuel Butler's Erewhon (er w whon - e's). You will like it. Then, come by room 254 to join the Lit. Crit. Team and get other materials. The first contest is at Mansfield High on Nov. 14.
• Attention Warriors...October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. "Let's Go Pink" next Tuesday, October 27! Leadership students will be coming around to classrooms to collect donations for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

• Attention: anyone interested in joining the UIL Mathematics, Calculator or Number Sense team, please meet on Thursday, October 22 at lunch in Mrs. Broyle's room, 226/ That's the UIL Mathematics Team meeting on Thursday in room 226.

• Invisible Children is having an important meeting Thursday after school in room 207. New members are welcomed. We need to discuss December 5 Event!

• Attention Seniors. Jostens will be on campus taking your announcement and cap and gown orders on Tuesday, October 20 for girls and Wednesday, October 21 for boys. They will be set up outside the auditorium during all lunches. You will need a $80.00 deposit to place your order. Extra packers are in the main office if you need one. If you have not purchased your class ring, you can order your ring with your announcement and gap and gown order with no additional deposit. Juniors, if you have not yet purchased your class ring you can order it at this time with only a $50.00 deposit.
• The next geo club meeting is Thursday, October 22. In room 101. Bring money and empty coffee cans. Pizza will be provided. See Mr. Ellis with any questions. Also the T-shirts are in. Come and get them!

• Attention Seniors seeking scholarship money: The October Martin High School Scholarship Bulletin has been posted on the webpage and hard copies have been given to your Senior English teachers - PLEASE check it out!!! The September Scholarship Bulletin is also posted on our website and copies are available in the counseling office. Also, please not: the Bulletin Board outside the Counseling office next to the teacher mailroom will have postings of updated scholarships, college open houses and other important college and career info. Please check it out!
• Junior World Affairs Council will meet on Tuesday, October 20 at lunch in Room 209. Invisible Children representatives will present an update from the Roadies visit. Come to learn more about how you can make a difference in a child's life. Membership paperwork will be available and dues will be accepted.
• Hispanic Student Association is having a general meeting Tuesday October 20 during lunch in Room 207. New members are welcomed - we will be discussing upcoming events.
• Check it out: The Martin Chess Club had officer elections last Friday. We would like to congratulate our newly elected officers: President Evan R., Vice President Sailee Y., Game Coordinator Kevin V., & Equipment Management Ben G. We will have an officer meeting this Tuesday in room 103. Congratulations to Evan, Sailee, Kevin, & Ben. It's going to be a great year!

• Tuesday evening, October 20, the Martin counselors are hosting a financial aid program entitled, "Ultimate Money Skills College Funding" at 6:00 in the Martin Auditorium. It's never too soon to start thinking about how to pay for college. UTA will also have a representative available.
• Hey computer science club! The first general meeting is Tuesday October 20 in Mr. Cadle's room, room 184B. We'll be discussing fundraisers and t-shirts so don't forget to come.
