  • Please attend an informational meeting about taking TCC Dual Credit courses next year. The meeting will be held in the large auditorium on Tuesday, December 1 from 6-7. TCC will be here to provide an overview of the Dual Credit program and necessary testing paperwork. It is essential for you to attend because this is our only informational meeting prior to our spring registration for our 2010-2011 school years.

  • Hey Warriors, Listen up. Did you make straight A's on your report card for the second six weeks? If so, make a copy of your report card and put it in the designated box found in the library. Each six weeks there will be a drawing from the report cards submitted for a $50.00 Walmart Gift Card.

  • Attention Juniors and Seniors...The Jostens representatives will be here on Friday, November 20 to deliver your class rings, taking late ring orders and getting late Senior Graduation orders. Remember to bring the balance on your account in either a check, cash or credit card. There is a deposit required for Graduation orders.
  • Did you know it takes 90% less energy to recycle aluminum cans than to make new ones? Look out for HOPE members picking up soda cans and plastic bottles at the end of lunch, and if you have any old cell phones, please take them to room 282B or 273. HOPE will also be selling "Hug me, I'm a tree" t-shirts for $13. Order now in room 282B or 273. The deadline is on Wednesday!
  • Hey Warriors...Do you need something to wear to the game in Abilene on Saturday? The Spirit Zone store and Marketing Education students from the Parks Mall will be here today and tomorrow selling Spirit Items at lunch in the Upper Gym Lobby. Tee shirts, Tattoos, Sweat Pants and more!
  • Warriors- let's make a Caravan! If you are going to the Game on Saturday, a Caravan of Fans will be leaving from the Front Parking lot @ 8:30 Saturday morning. Student Council will be there with war paint and car paint! Ya'll come!

  • Hey Warriors...Make the Permian Panthers see Red on Friday and Saturday at the Game! Show them we are Red Blood Warriors...Wear red on Friday and to the game too! We definitely don't want to wear Black - Permian's colors are Black and White - there school stop signs are even black. Let's Knock the Lights out of Permian on Saturday! Go WARRIORS! Wear Red!
  • Attention Warriors...Football Tickets for Saturday's playoff game in Abilene against Odessa Permian will go on sale today AFTER school. They will be on sale Wednesday and Thursday, before school, at lunch and after school, and on Friday BEFORE school ONLY. Student tickets are $4, adult tickets are $8 and at the Game all tickets will be $10.
  • Spanish Club will meet on Thursday, November 19 in room 195. Come to Spanish Club. It is Churros Day!
  • Attention all ASL Honor Society Students: ASL Honor Society has an important meeting this Thursday the 19th in Mrs. Daniels' room 297. Don't forget to bring money for pizza! Also don't miss The Silent Dinner this Thursday night. Come to the meeting to learn more about it. Don't forget to order your ASL Honor Society shirt by this Friday!!
  • Over 7700 images, representing 80 schools, were submitted to the Association of Texas Photography Instructors' 2009 Fall Photo Contest. Of those thousands of entries we'd like to recognize two Martin Photos. Jackson Savarese was recognized and awarded an Honorable Mention in the Advanced Fashion Category. Also "Atta-Boy" to Grant Daniels for an Honorable Mention in the Advanced Open Category as well as a dominating performance overall. Grant won four First Place Advanced category awards in Open, Thematic, Environmental Portrait and Documentary Photography. Congratulations fellas.
  • ASL Club Shirts are on sale starting today for $10.50. You may order until next Tuesday, November 23. See and ASL teacher to order your shirts today.
  • If you want the essays in your red folders, come by Room 118C this week to get them. Essays not picked up by Friday at 3:00 will be recycled.

  • Attention Unleashed Poetry Club Members: There will not be a poetry club meeting this Wednesday at lunch. Our next meeting will be December 2. Our Christmas party will be December 16 at lunch. Again, there will be no Unleashed Poetry Club this week. See everyone in December with great poems in hand.
  • Geo Club members don't forget there is a meeting this Thursday, don't forget to bring your crayons and coloring books. Also there was not enough pizza money for this meeting, so there will be no pizza.
  • It's finally that time of year for all of us to give our thanks! Please come and celebrate with us in the cafeteria for a HUGE "Turkey Feast". Lines will open at 11:30 so come early and beat the rush. Also, remember "all 4" of the main lines will be serving roast turkey, chicken nuggets and pizza for your convenience. That's this Thursday 11:30 to 1:10. See you there!!
  • Invisible Children members there will be a very important meeting after school Wednesday in room 207. If you are helping with the Black and White dinner - you need to be present.
  • Derrick Kinney, a financial advisor, presented the Top Business Student Awards for September and November. Ryan J. received this award for September. The November recipient is Joey W. Congratulations to Ryan and Joey.

  • Are you interested in owning your own business someday? If you are a minority student, you are invited to participate in the 2009 Minority Youth Business Retreat on November 20th. Application packets and more information is available in the Counseling Office. See Mrs. Broker. Time is running out. The deadline to turn in your completed application is Tuesday, November 17.
  • This Tuesday, November 17th, representatives from Texas Christian University will be available in the Counseling Center Foyer from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. to meet prospective students and answer any questions you may have about attending TCU. This would be a wonderful opportunity, especially for Seniors who have already applied.
  • Psychology Club Meeting this Tuesday in Room 117 at lunch. If you would like to be included in the pizza order, you must stop by before the meeting. Bring your paper work to the meeting on Tuesday. Hope to see you there!

  • Are you in Good Health and at least 17 years old? Do you want to help save lives? Do you want to donate Blood at the Red Cross Blood Drive on November 24? This Friday, (Today) is the last day to sign up for blood drive donations. Sign up forms are in your Senior English Classes or outside of room 250. Sign up today to donate a Pint and save 3 babies lives!
  • Just for your information: We want everyone to know that we offer "all" entrees on "all" the main cafeteria lines everyday. So if one line is too long, please go to another line to purchase what you need - Also just a "heads up", our "Turkey Feast Meal" is next Thursday, November 19 and will be served on all 4 main lines.
  • UIL Spelling will met today at lunch in Mrs. Tracy's room, room 132. Please bring your word list with you.

  • Students are participating in Math, Number Sense, and Calculator UIL will meet in Room 226 on Thursday, November 12 at the beginning of lunch.
  • "Attention Seniors: If you signed up for the fundraiser and did not get your fundraising materials in your English class, drop by Mr. Beck's room 206 to pick them up. The fundraiser runs through this weekend and money will be collected next Monday and Tuesday at lunch in room 206. Remember, you can earn free prom tickets if you sell enough!"
  • The Literary Club will have its next meeting this Thursday in Room 203 during lunch. Bring your conversation regarding Sherlock Holmes, your lunch and your new book ideas. See you Thursday!
  • Martin Players is proud to present the 2nd production of the 2009-2010 Theatre Season, The Boys Next Door by Rom Griffin. This funny, yet heartwarming story centers on a group of mentally challenged men and their caretaker in New England. The play will be performed November 12, 13, 14, with a special show on November 16 at 7:30 P.M. in the Little Theater. Tickets are $6 in advance $8 at the door. Advance tickets are on sale at lunch in front of the Little Theater. Seating is limited so get yours seats early!!
  • Congratulations to the Martin Cross Country team for their participation in the Region 1 meet last weekend in Lubbock. The girl's team finished 19th overall. The boy's team finished 16th overall, and were led by senior John V., who placed 8th and will be advancing to the state meet Saturday in Round Rock. Go Warriors!
  • Students! Please remember that on Thursday, November 12, we will be on Pep Rally Schedule. If you leave campus for lunch, make sure you are back for the beginning of your 4th period class at 12:52!!

  • This Tuesday, November 10, representatives from Dallas Baptist University and the University of Dallas in Irving will be available in the Counseling Center Foyer from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. to meet prospective students and answer any questions you may have about attending their universities. Remember the Counseling Center is now open EVERY Tuesday until 7:30 P.M.
  • Wanted: Spirit people from each class to compete at the pep rally Thursday.
    Needed: 1 person from each person to enter the marshmallow eating contest.
    Needed: 2 people from each class to form a three-legged race team.
    Needed: 6 people from each class to be the "cheerleaders" for your class in a "Two Bits, Four Bits" competition.
    These three competition plus which class yells the loudest during the entire pep rally for Martin will determine which class wins the Spirit Stick. All interested people need to see Ms. Little in room 136 as soon as possible.
  • Congratulations to the Warrior Varsity Football team on their victory against Lamar last Friday night. They are now advancing to Playoffs! The Playoff game is scheduled for 9:00 P.M. on thursday night at the Cowboy's stadium. Playoff Game Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, the 10th, at the AISD annex 4 located 1141 W. Pioneer. East of Davis on the north side of Pioneer Parkway. Last day to buy tickets will be Thursday, the 12th, at noon.
    Students will be $6.00
    Adults will be $8.00
    Parking will be $10.00 to be paid at the stadium
    Tickets at the Stadium Gate will be $12.00
    As of yet, it is not known if tickets will be sold at Martin High School.

  • If you plan on trying out for the boy's soccer team and you are not enrolled in the Soccer Athletic Period, there will be a mandatory meeting in room 186B at 12:25 during lunch on November 5. You must attend this meeting if you plan on trying out.
  • Hey Warriors...It is Red Cross Blood Drive Time! If you are 17 years old and in good health you can sign up to donate blood. Sign-up sheets are available in your Senior English Classes or outside room 250. Sign-up before November 13! The blood drive is on the Tuesday before the Thanksgiving break. It only takes about 45 minutes to donate. Think of the lives you could save!

  • This past weekend the preliminary and final rounds of the Texas Music Educators Association String Honor Orchestra competition were held in Austin. The Martin High School Symphony Orchestra now only made the finals but placed 4th in the state of Texas! This is the third year in a row the orchestra has made the string orchestra finals. Congratulations to all the Martin High School orchestra students and directors and on this incredible achievement.

The first contest is at Mansfield High on Nov. 14.
  • Attention Warriors...October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. "Let's Go Pink" next Tuesday, October 27! Leadership students will be coming around to classrooms to collect donations for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

  • Attention Seniors. Jostens will be on campus taking your announcement and cap and gown orders on Tuesday, October 20 for girls and Wednesday, October 21 for boys. They will be set up outside the auditorium during all lunches. You will need a $80.00 deposit to place your order. Extra packers are in the main office if you need one. If you have not purchased your class ring, you can order your ring with your announcement and gap and gown order with no additional deposit. Juniors, if you have not yet purchased your class ring you can order it at this time with only a $50.00 deposit.

  • Attention Seniors seeking scholarship money: The October Martin High School Scholarship Bulletin has been posted on the webpage and hard copies have been given to your Senior English teachers - PLEASE check it out!!! The September Scholarship Bulletin is also posted on our website and copies are available in the counseling office. Also, please not: the Bulletin Board outside the Counseling office next to the teacher mailroom will have postings of updated scholarships, college open houses and other important college and career info. Please check it out!
  • Junior World Affairs Council will meet on Tuesday, October 20 at lunch in Room 209. Invisible Children representatives will present an update from the Roadies visit. Come to learn more about how you can make a difference in a child's life. Membership paperwork will be available and dues will be accepted.
  • Hispanic Student Association is having a general meeting Tuesday October 20 during lunch in Room 207. New members are welcomed - we will be discussing upcoming events.

  • Tuesday evening, October 20, the Martin counselors are hosting a financial aid program entitled, "Ultimate Money Skills College Funding" at 6:00 in the Martin Auditorium. It's never too soon to start thinking about how to pay for college. UTA will also have a representative available.
