World QuestWorld Quest Team Going to Nationals!

On Saturday March 1st, three teams from Martin High School competed in the EDS World Quest Contest hosted by the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth. There were 64 teams entered in the contest. One of the Martin teams placed first, and will be advancing to the National World Quest Contest in Washington D.C. on April 4th through 6th. Congratulations to the students and their sponsors! Pictured at left is the winning team. The members of the team from left to right are Ryan T., Shashwat U., Alexi H. and Dalton R.

Martin Idol is approaching! The Coup, Martin's literary magazine, is sponsoring our school's singing competition to discover Martin's very own talented vocalists. The first prize winner will receive an iPod, and the second and third prize winners will receive a large prize as well. The colossal contest will take place on January 31st in the auditorium at 7 PM.

Tryouts are December 6th and 7th, afterschool, in the Little Theater. Participants must bring an application form, which they can pick up from Room 260B.

Martin Warrior Freshman Orientation

Future Fish Night will be on Thursday, January 24. The night will feature two interest sessions for various Athletic activities, such as Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Soccer. There will also be two separate sessions for Electives, such as Art, Band, Choir, Orchestra, Theater, and Yearbook.

The Coup Needs You!

The Coup, Martin's multiple award-winning literary magazine, would like to consider your creative productions. This year's theme is Urban, and the possibilities are endless. The deadline for submitting artwork, photography, poetry, prose, and viewpoint essays is November 30th to room 260B. Hurry, and be considered for publication today!

Playoff Game versus Trinity HS

The Warrior Football Team takes on Trinity High School in the first round of playoffs this Friday at Birdville Sports Complex. The sports complex is located on the Grapevine Highway 26 and Precinct Line Road.

Football tickets will be available Thursday before and after school, and Friday before school only. Pre-Sale ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will cost $9 at the gate. There is also a $2 parking fee, so let's carpool to the game!

 

Reflections 2007
The National PTSA Reflections Program deadline for entries is October 31st. This year's theme is "I can make a difference by..." The entries should reflect this theme. Students can enter more than once in each category. To encourage participation by students; Texas PTA offers scholarships to graduating seniors who participate in the program.

A judging of the student's artwork will be held in November, the first and second place winning entries will be sent to the next elvel of judging. Awards are given at the local, council, district, state and national levels.
