Script Writing Click here for some screenwriting tips. Here is a great format for writing your scripts, it's easier for everyone this way, as it makes the director find the scenes quickly and it helps the editor when looking for transitions and scene starts. EXT. BOB'S HOUSE-DAY BOB FADE OUT You must have the scene location in caps and left-aligned. First you put INT or EXT depending on whether the scene is interior or exterior. Then you put the location of the scene, usually determine, for example, who's house it is. If it's Bob's house, then indicate that. Then at the end put whether it's day or night so the director knows when the scene needs to be shot. Then stay left-aligned and move to the next line. Put your scene description here, be sure to include any emotions or feelings going on. As well as telling what is going on in the scene. You need to be as descriptive as you can if you want your script to stay pretty much the same. Now for dialogue, you skip a line and center it. The name of the character speaking is in caps and on the next line you put the dialogue. If you want to mention any facial reactions or thoughts in the head before or after the dialogue, put it in brackets [ ]. Lastly, if you want a transition to occur somewhere in the scene, specify it, otherwise you are leaving the director to put a transition wherever he wants to, and it may not be what you want. I would also recommend using Courier New font because it's easy to read and it's spaced nicely. It allows for faster reading of scripts in my opinion.
