GIRLS REGIONAL TRACK MEET

The 4X100m relay consisting of Brea G, Alonda D, Nikki M and Kailey W qualified to finals on Monday finishing 1st in their heat and them placed 3rd in the finals on Tuesday running the teams fastest time of the season.

The 4x200m relay consisting of Shalisa S, Nikki M, Alonda D and Brea G also qualified to finals on Monday and then placed 7th in the finals on Tuesday.

Madison M qualified to the finals on Monday in the 800m run by running her personal best and then placed 6th in the finals on Tuesday.

Kailey W qualified to the finals on Monday in the 400m dash finishing 2nd in her heat and then placed 7th in the finals on Tuesday. She was also anchor leg of the 4x100m relay.

Nikki M qualified to the finals in the long jump and finished 8th. She also ran 3rd leg on the 4x100m relay and 2nd leg of the 4x200m relay.

Our State Qualifier, Brea G, ran 1st leg of the 4x100m relay, anchor leg of the 4x200m relay, placed 4th in the long jump, 2nd in the shot put and 1st in the 100m hurdles! She will be competing in the 100m hurdles and shot put next Saturday in Austin at the State Track Meet.

Please congratulate Jay A. and his UIL Science Team, Connor B., Abraham L., Michael L., and Matthew L. They came in 2nd at regionals, but qualified for STATE as the wildcard team. They actually had the 3rd highest score in the state at regionals!!!

Area V FFA

I had the opportunity to take two teams to the Area V FFA Contests. I took a Floriculture team and a Nursery/Landscape team. These two teams are a brand new addition to what the students were typicaly used to when they went to these competitions. The Floriculture team placed 9th in the area (We were only 3 spots away from going to State!!!!!!). The Nursery/Landscape team placed 11th in the area. I am proud of the hard work that the students put in and they are already geared uo to make sure we adavnce to state next year!


ONE ACT PLAY

Yesterday, the JV tennis team competed in district and had great results. These kids have fought hard for their spot and to get where they are today. If you have any of these students, please congratulate them.

The jv tennis students are officially finished for the season. The good news is that they should not be missing anymore days due to tennis!! Thank you to all of you who have worked with our students and their many tennis absences!


ONE ACT PLAY

Our One Act Play competed at Regionals yesterday in Lubbock. They were up against 5 other plays. I am happy to announce that they are advancing to STATE! Only 8 teams in the state will get to perform at this level! The competition will be on May 11th in Austin on the UT campus. Woo Hoo! Way to go theater!

TEXAS RELAY GOLD

Senior Brea G. won the gold in the shot put at the Texas Relays, with a personal best of 48'4.5" (second best in the nation this year) and a second time to break the MHS record!

BOYS SOCCER DISTRICT CHAMPION

Congratulations to the Lady Warriors for winning the 2011 Co- district championship!! We had an 11-1-2 district record and 15-4-2 overall record. It is our 9th consecutive and 19th District championship as well as our 23rd year in the playoffs!!! Bidistrict Game vs. Midland Lee at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene Tuesday March 29 at 2:00pm.

SundancersThe Sundancers competed this past Saturday at the Showtime Competition at McKinney Boyd High School. They did an outstanding job! Please help me in congratulating these young ladies on a job well-done. They have worked so very hard all year long and especially these past couple of weeks dealing with weather-related challenges (6 practices missed because of the weather!) Our goals were to stay positive, be friendly to each other and other teams, do our best performances each time we got on the court, and stay focused. In each area, our girls succeeded and surpassed! I cannot be more proud of their performances on and off the court.

As an extra special bonus, the girls received the following awards:
