Mr. Larry W. Cure
Director of Theatre
James Martin High School
Mr. Cure has been a theatre director at Martin
High School since the school opened in 1982. He received a Bachelor
of Arts degree from Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth in 1976
and a MEd degree from North Texas State University in 1980. Before
coming to Martin, Mr. Cure taught at Azle High School for six
years.In the past 26 years, the Martin theatre program has taken
12 plays to the State UIL One Act Play contest in Austin. In 1990
and 1999, Martin's One Act Play took 2nd place at State and in
1996 and 1998, Martin won the State Championship. Mr. Cure was
selected Martin High School Teacher of the Year in 1990 and received
the Southwestern Bell Denius-UIL Award for Outstanding Sponsor
in 1999. In 2003, Mr. Cure was honored as one of twelve teachers
in Texas to receive the UT Texas Exes Outstanding Teacher Award.
He has also been an adjunct professor at Tarrant County College-Southeast
Campus teaching Fundamentals of speech Communication and Business
and Professional Communication for the past 11 years. He has been
married to his wife, Terri, for 30 years and has two children.
Cassie (MHS Class of 2002) is a recent graduate of Lycoming College in
Pennsylvania and Cameron (MHS Class of 2005) is a junior at
Texas Tech University in Lubbock. |

Sharon Miller is returning to Martin High School
as a theatre arts teacher after a 17 year hiatus during which
she gained early childhood certification and taught kindergarten.
Mrs. Miller received a bachelor's degree in theatre arts from
Howard Payne University in Brownwood.She was in the charter summerstock
company of the Granbury Opera House in Granbury, Texas where she
received additional college credit hours in theatre from Tarleton
State University and Texas Christian University. Mrs. Miller also
has a major in speech communications and has coached UIL debate
teams to the state level. Mrs. Miller has directed or co-directed eleven UIL One Act Plays, two of which have gone to state. Mrs. Miller has three children, Bo, 27, Lauren, 25, and Patti, 17, and two grandsons, Kaden, 1, and Rocco, 4 months. Mrs. Miller has been married to her husband Michael for 21 years. |
