Speech team takes first place Sweepstakes

The Bailey speech and debate team won first place Sweepstakes at the Arlington High Colt Classic tournament. The students competed in events such as debate, duet acting, humorous interpretation, pantomime, prose, poetry, original oratory and readers' theater. The speech and debate team is currently preparing for the Lamar High School tournament in December. Mrs. Garner and Mrs. Wells are very proud of all of the participants.

RAMS CAN recycle!

The Magazine and Recycling Contest has ended, the race is finished, and ALL Bailey Rams have shown that we can win at recycling! The total number of magazines and catalogs that we recycled was 3,921!  Congratulations to our seventh grade Bailey Rams for winning our school contest with a total of 2,198 magazines and catalogs! The eighth graders gave a Great Challenge with a total of 1,723 magazines and catalogs.

National Junior Honor Society

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is an honor and a commitment. Qualities for membership include citizenship, character, leadership, scholarship and service to the community. Each year nominees are evaluated by the performance of the cumulative grades and citizenship from the seventh grade school year to be considered for induction at the beginning of the eighth grade year. Pictured here are the officers for the 2007-2008 school year.

Bailey Big Mouth Speech and Debate

The eighth grade officers of the Bailey Big Mouth speech club, along with the members, are looking forward to an exciting year. With two tournaments scheduled this fall, they are busy preparing for competition. We are fortunate to have such an exceptional group of students representing Bailey!

Members of the Bailey Big Mouth speech club are excited to participate in the upcoming Arlington Colt Classic tournament held at the end of October.  They are competing in categories such as oratory, duet acting, pantomime, group improvisation, debate and readers' theater.  We are looking forward to an outstanding year in speech and debate. Dr. Cavazos visits Bailey AVID classes

Dr. Cavazos, AISD associate superintendent of instruction, recently spoke with Bailey's AVID students concerning the importance of education and developing a love for learning. AVID is an in-school academic support program that prepares students for college preparatory classes and college eligibility. The students enjoyed Dr. Cavazos’ presentation and appreciate his support of their endeavors!

Bailey Junior High would like to thank AISD Superintendent Mac Bernd, Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck, Council Member Lana Wolff, Bailey Principal Jimmy Walker, Assistant Fire Chief Don Crowson and the many EMTs for bringing the CPaRlington initiative, CPR Anytime, to Bailey. We appreciate the opportunity to learn CPR. We will use the CPR Anytime Kits to share our knowledge of CPR with our families, neighbors and friends.

2006-2007 BJH Teacher of the Year

Bailey really has something to cheer about...Mrs. Carol Culbertson is the Teacher of the Year for 2006-2007. Mrs. Culbertson is the eighth-grade Quest team math teacher and a former Bailey student. She has taught at Bailey for seven years. Good luck to Mrs. Culbertson as she goes on to represent Bailey in the Kiwanis Teacher of the Year competition.

Ron Mills is the seventh-grade Champs Team Texas history teacher. Mr. Mills is known for making history come to life. His students, both past and present, will always do more than just "Remember the Alamo." He was honored by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas at their 2006 state convention.
