Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my page!  I hope that you find the information here or on my Downloads page (see the link to the right -->) helpful.

2007-2008 was my first year teaching.  I was hired late in the summer of 2007 to teach at Martin HS.  In addition to the full year at Martin, I also taught the equivalent of an entire year during the Accelerated World Geography Summer School course at Arlington HS this past summer (2008).

I have long been interested in teaching, as my wife is about to start her 11th year teaching high school for Mansfield ISD.  After graduation from the University of Illinois in 1995, I spent 11 1/2 years in a total of three (3) positions in law enforcement, the last of which was 1 1/2 years as an International Civilian Police Officer in the Former Yugoslavian province of Kosovo as part of a United Nations program.

My primary position in Kosovo was to lead and train a multi-agency task force designed to curb smuggling and human trafficking. I also provided training and mentoring to an Internal Affairs Investigations Unit during my time in Kosovo.  Finally, I have significant training experience from several years in the US Army Reserve, where I was a commissioned officer and platoon leader.

I also have a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the
University of Texas at Dallas and pursued my teaching certification through the College of Education at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Please feel free to contact me at any time via either of the email addresses to the left if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.  I can also be reached by telephone at the number on the left (<--) during my conference periods.  However, that is a group number, and it might not be possible for me to discuss the issue with you.  If you need me to speak with you about a sensitive issue, please leave me a message through your student's assistant principal and I will return your call as soon as I can.  Email is the fastest way to ensure that I answer your question(s).

Thank you,

Mr. Gent
