Thinking Maps are used throughout our school to assist students in learning. The types of maps you may see are: circle, bubble, double-bubble, tree, bridge, flow, multi-flow and brace. What are the maps used for?

  • Circle maps are used to define something in context.
  • Bubble maps are used to describe the qualities of things using adjectives.
  • Double-bubble maps are used to compare and contrast things.
  • Tree maps are used for classifying items.
  • Bridge maps are used to see analogies.
  • Flow maps are used for sequencing.
  • Multi-flow maps are used to show cause and effect.
  • Brace maps are used to show parts of a whole.
