We offer tutoring Monday through Thursday in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. The tutoring program is from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Bus transportation is available for students eligible to receive bus services. Monday and Wednesday are Social Studies and English. Tuesday and Thursday are Math, Science, MAC and Credit Recovery.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Bowie Theater Department was featured the at Ferguson Jr. High School Reading Night. The students wrote and performed a short skit about the joys and benefits of reading. The performance was a real crowd pleaser. Joy Trimble is the Theater Department Chair.

The Drama Department presents Dearly Departed by David-Bottrell and Jessie Jones. The play will be shown May 9, 10, 12, and 13 at the BHS Little Theater. Shows begin at 7:00pm. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.
AP French Language Exam Change: The AP French Language exam is scheduled by the College Board to be given Monday, May 5 in the afternoon. However, due to an interruption in the power by the power company, AISD's language labs will not be operational on May 5. The AP French Langauge exam will now be given on Thursday, May 22 in the afternoon. Students previously registered for this exam will be allowed to test on this date without incurring a late testing payment.

Congratulations to the TSA team for dominating at the TSA State Competition in Waco. Twenty-one of the twenty-three students advanced to nationals which will take place on Orlando, Florida in June. Check the Students Kudos page to see more photos.
Bowie faculty and staff participated in the Cardboard Boat Regatta and finished 2nd place in the Dolphin Class with the fastest time! Participants included Todd Watkins, Susan Bicknell, Sherry Chaney, Keith Johnson, and Steve Hoffner. To view more of the photos, click here.
Congratulations to Ms. S. Loh, 11, for being selected as 1st runner-up for the Sheris Growe Youth Service Leader of the Year Award presented by Mr. Ron White at the Global Youth Service Day. Ms. Loh is the president of the Bowie Key Club.

Congratulations to Softball Coach Kari Kitchens for being selected as the Coach of the Year. Coach Kitchens lead the girls softball team to district playoffs winning the title of district champs. Way to go Coach!!
The Bowie Family wishes to congratulate Wrestling Assistant Coach John Mance who has been selected as a finalist for the National Assistant Coach of the Year. This is a huge honor for Coach Mance and proves that he is a great asset to the wrestling program, school and community. Congratulations to Coach Mance and the Bowie Wrestling Team for another outstanding year.
Congratulations to J. Tribble for receiving a 2nd place standing in the district Lincoln Douglas Debate UIL contest. Ms. Tribble will represent Bowie at the regional competition in Lubbock.
Congratulations to R. Bailey, 12, who was awarded the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship. Mr. Bailey, an IB student, plans to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia and study computer and electrical engineering with a minor in international business. The Bowie Family is very proud of Mr. Bailey's success at school and being the first Bowie recipient of this scholarship.
Bowie Theatre's UIL One-Act Cast members received several awards for its production of The Women of Lockerbie. The cast members include Tiffany Cromwell, Kim Nguyen, Jasmine Moore, Matthew Williams, Saira Hernandez, Andre Bradford (All-Star Cast), Veronica Almondovar (All-Star Cast), Rachael Hess (Honorable Mention All-Star Cast), Jennifer Nwene (Honorable Mention All-Star Cast), and Alexandria Antonio (Honorable Mention All-Star Cast).
The Jan Thomas Library Dedication: The Bowie Family is proud to dedicate the library to Ms. Jan Thomas, Bowie librarian. Ms. Thomas has been with AISD for 37 years and opened the Bowie library in 1991. She is a dedicated librarian, teacher, and friend. Ms. Thomas will be retiring in June to travel and enjoy her family and friends.
Congratulations to Coach David Mudgett, Wrestling Coach of the Year. In his 14th season at Bowie, Coach Mudgett guided the program to third place at the state meet, the best team finish in school history since UIL adopted wrestling. Bowie also won its district and regional meets. Erik Simons and Mohammed Usman were also selected to the All Area Boys Wrestling Team. T. J. Cannon was also named on the All Area Girls Wrestling Team.
Congratulations to T. Crenshaw for being the recipient of the Hank Blaylock Scholarship. This is a $10,000 scholarship given to worthy students with great character, grades and leadership. Ms. Crenshaw is also an AVID student and the first AVID scholarship winner. The Bowie Family is very proud of you!!

Congratulations to the following Choir Students who received a I at the UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest: Jana Redinger, Alexandrea Antonio, and Priscilla Gonzalez. Jermaine Lobaugh is the Choir Director.
B. Davis, son of Danny and Kimberly Davis has been recognized as a Commended Student in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program and finalists in the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.4 million students who entered the 2008 competition by taking the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying.
The Souljahs and Lady Souljahs participated in the Texas Step Show Regional State Qualifiers. The Souljahs easily defeated the male competition and the Lady Souljahs secured their bid to the state championship in the spring. The Lady Souljahs also received 1st place at the 10th Annual Martin High School Step Show Extravaganza. The advisors are Chris Caldwell and Doris Morehead.
BHS Varsity Cheer Squad returned from the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando placing 10th in the nation. Great job cheerleaders.
The Bowie Belles Drill Team took 1st place at the competition that benefited the Kevin D. Wade Foundation and Cooks Children's Hospital. The Belles are invited back to perform a lyrical dance to Rascal Flatt's "Skin" at the Foundation's next event. Congratulations to the Belles and director, Reagan Glenn.
Congratulations to Art student A. Hernandez for placing 3rd in the Nutcracker Poster Contest. M. Nguyen presented Hernandez with a $200 prize. Hernandez is in Mr. Womack's Art I class. Congratulations on a job well done!
