Every Saturday starting November 25th- Salvation Army Ringing of the Bells
Going through December 23rd. This is a double hour project and it counts as a meeting. We will work with our sponsoring Kiwanis Club and man the kettle. The shifts will be 2 hours long and we will work in teams of two. We work both doors, so we need four people to sign up for each shift. Sign up sheets are at the back.
Saturday, December 2nd- Story Time at Barnes and Noble.
We need members to read the story, dress up in the costume, and help with the projects. Be there at 10:45 in order to be able to start around 11:00. The story is Clifford, the Big Red Dog. Only 10 Key Clubbers may be there. Sign up sheets are on the back wall.
Thursday, December 7th Night- Mission Arlington
Key Club will work as a group on Meet us at Mission Arlington at 5:00 and we will work until 7:00. If they should request that you work in the clinic or clean the clinic, please tell them that we have said you cannot work there. They will find something else for you to do. Sign up on the back wall.
December 7th or 8th- Kornerstone Refreshment Donations
We need cupcake and cookie donations for the Kornerstone Christmas Party. Please bring the donations to room 227.
Saturday, December 9th- Kornerstone Foster Care Service Christmas Party
Kornerstone needs volunteers to work the craft room, game room, toy walk, and bingo room at their Christmas party from 1:00-4:00 p.m., setup from 11:00-1:00 p.m., and 4:00-6:00 p.m..
Operation School House
The 3rd Division of the U.S. Army has started a program to collect school supplies for Iraqi teachers and school children. You will find a list of supplies and how many hours that can be earned at the bottom of the agenda.
Governor’s Project
Our district governor has announced her project. We will be helping the Ronald McDonald House. At the end of the agenda you will find a list of supplies you may bring in for this project. December 8th is the last day to bring items in.
CPR Training
We have received our ten CPR kits and are ready to begin training. We will be training other executive boards of clubs here at Martin, then the rest of the student body and faculty. This is a huge job and we need lots of trainers. This is our single service project. Please sign up on the back wall to be a trainer.
Visually Impaired Program
Our school district needs help preparing materials for visually impaired students. They need our help with enlarging and copying materials and running them through a special machine. The shifts are after school, 3:15-5:00 p.m. You can work an hour. Every day except Friday.
Continuing Projects
Every Tuesday Night- Kiwanis Meetings
At the Hometown Buffet on Cooper Street and I-20. Come at 6:00 if you want to eat. The first two people will eat for free. The meeting starts at 6:30. These count as make up meetings and hours. We need at least two people at each meeting.
Any Day- Soda Tabs
The Sundown Kiwanis Club (our sponsoring Kiwanis Club) is still collecting soda tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House that supports Cook Children’s Hospital. They use the money from the recycled tabs to buy paper products and other supplies for the families staying there.
***300 Tabs = 1 hour
Volunteering at Mission Arlington
If you can’t work on the designated day, there is a sign in sheet at Mission Arlington. You can work another night. Be sure to sign in the Key Club notebook.
Directions
Barnes and Noble Story Time – Saturday, December 2 – 10:45 am – 11:45 am
Barnes and Noble is on South Cooper Street in front of the Parks Mall. From Pleasant Ridge Road or I-20, go north on Cooper Street. Barnes and Noble is one block north of Pleasant Ridge Road on the east (right) side of Cooper. Go to the children’s book department and the board member in charge will tell you what to do. They will have the sign in book.
Arlington Sundown Kiwanis Meetings – Every Tuesday evening from 6:15 – 7:30 – Home Town Buffet
Home Town Buffet is in the shopping center on the south side of the I-20 and Cooper Street intersection. It is next door to the Olive Garden. Tell the person at the desk that you are with the Kiwanis Club and go to the room in the back corner.
Mission Arlington
Go north on Cooper Street. Turn right on Abrams Street (just past UTA). Turn right on Pecan or Center Street. You can park in the First Baptist Church parking lot at the corner of Border and Center. Mission Arlington is across from the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Be sure to ask to sign in on the Martin Key Club sign in sheet.
Arlington Holiday Lights Parade
Go north on Cooper Street past UTA, 303, and Park Row. Turn right (east) on Abrams. Go about three blocks
to Pecan Street. Go to the volunteer table to sign in and get your assignment.
Salvation Army Ringing the Bells
Go south on Cooper Street past I-20. Walmart is on the corner of Cooper Street and Bardin Road. There
will be a Kiwanis member at each of the two front doors. They will have the sign in book. You must fulfill this responsibility or lose hours. Be sure to be on time.
Wood Elementary School Carnival – November 11th
From Martin, go south on Woodside/Kelly Elliot. Go over I-20 and turn left (east) on the I-20 service road. Take the service road to the first light at Park Springs Blvd. Turn right (south) on Park Springs. Turn left on Pimlico Drive. It is the second left. Wood Elementary is at 3300 Pimlico Drive. It is about three blocks up.
Visually Impaired Program – 1333 West Pioneer Parkway, Annex 5
From Martin, go east on Pleasant Ridge toward the Parks Mall and turn left (north) on South Cooper Street. At Pioneer Parkway (303) turn left. Travel west on Pioneer to South Davis Street and turn right. AISD Annex 5 is in a house on the left side of the street in the first block. It is on the same lot as the Administration building.
Kornerstone Christmas Party – 3221 West Pioneer Parkway – December 9th – 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
From Martin, go north on Woodside to Arkansas Lane. Turn right on Arkansas so you are going east. At the light at Arkansas and Park Springs Blvd., turn left (north). This is the light in front of Veterans Park. Take Park Springs Blvd. to Pioneer Parkway. Turn right (east) on Pioneer Parkway and go a couple of blocks to 3221 West Pioneer Parkway.
