The Lady Warriors Varsity Soccer Team won their district opener against Bowie 7-2. 9 different players were involved in the scoring. The JVA beat Bowie 3-0. Come support the teams tonight in Red as they take on our cross town A town rivals, the colts, at home. Game time is 6:00 for the JV followed by the varsity at 7:30.

Congratulations to Brandi Davis. She won third place at the Mansfield Legacy tournament for UIL Ready Writing. Her work was selected out of 75 essays. The Swim Teams are District Champions!!!

The Martin Girls Swim Team won the District Championship on Saturday. The Girls score was 141 points ahead of second place Paschal with 117. Anni Eger was the District Champion in the 500 yard Freestyle. The Boys Team also won the District Championship scoring 173 points ahead of Paschal with 93 points. The 200 Medley Relay team of Alan Li, Greg Hatter, Tyler Zacharias, and Travis Roper, the 200 Freestyle relay of Matt Donaldson, Taylour Bennett, Alan Li and Neil Manning, and the 400 Freestyly Relay of Matt Donaldson, Taylour Bennett, Tyler Zacharias, and Neil Manning were all District Champions.

Martin High School would like to congratulate our UIL Ready Writing team for another outstanding performance in area competition. This weekend, Veronica Dyke won 2nd place and Victoria Chang won 4th place for the Ready Writing event. Out of 25 other participatants, all members of our team placed in the top 40%. Ryan had an impressive run, defeating many of our club's top players. However, in this rematch of round 4, Zac Jordan won with sound moves and conservative play. Weekend Angels is a non profit organization that provides food bags to Arlington elementary children on Fridays that otherwise would not have anything to eat over the weekend. Bags are filled with food such as: Chef Boyardee Microwaveable Bowls Easy Mac and Cheese Ramen Noodle Cups and small boxes of Raisins Seekers is collecting money and food during 7th period to help fill these bags to fill the stomachs of hungry children in our local schools. Currently the need for food has exceeded the amount that is being provided as schools have requested additional food bags and have children on waiting lists. Weekend Angels is a non profit organization that provides food bags to Arlington elementary children on Fridays that otherwise would not have anything to eat over the weekend. Bags are filled with food such as: Chef Boyardee Microwaveable Bowls Easy Mac and Cheese Ramen Noodle Cups and small boxes of Raisins Seekers is collecting money and food to help fill these bags to fill the stomachs of hungry children in our local schools. Currently the need for food has exceeded the amount that is being provided as schools have requested additional food bags and have children on waiting lists. On Wednesday and Friday this week, we will be collecting spare change or food items to assist this program during 7th period. Please help these children by donating your spare change or food items.

Both guys and girls cross country teams qualified for the regional meet in Lubbock and will miss school on November 4th. Both JV teams ran well. The girls varsity team placed second. The guys varsity team was third. Olivia Olguin is the 2011 District Champion!!!! Madison Milhoan placed second followed by Colleen Weber in 15th. Cameron Villareal placed 2nd, Ryan Jacobs 13th, Grayson Birka 15th. Way to go Cross Country teams!!!

The Lady Warrior Varsity Golf Teams participated in the Maypearl Golf Tournament at Mansfield National Golf Course on Monday. The Martin Black team finished 2nd and the Martin Silver team finished 3rd. The girls were led by Lizzie Anderson, 84, JamieGisburne, 93, and several other ladies shooting a 95. The play is about a wealthy widow, Ethel P Savage, who is confined to a sanitorium when her stepchildren try to take her inheritance. The delightful friends she makes are a little looney and very wise. By the end of the play, the audience wonders who the crazy ones really are. The play begins at 7:30. The varsity and jv boy's golf team competed in the Mansfield Summit Golf tournament yesterday at Mansfield National. The varsity teams placed 1st and 2nd with Jeremy Salas won the tournament with a 77, John Ganss placed 3rd and Taylor Johnson placed 4th. The Jv teams also won 1st and 2nd in their division with Sean Henggeler won the tournament with a 75 and J.R. Calvillo placed 4th Great Job guys.

The Martin Girls Swim Team placed 2nd among 21 teams at the Arlington Invitational on Saturday. The Boys Swim Team won the invitational. The Lady Warrior Junior Varsity Golf teams participated in the Arlington Meadowbrook Invitational Golf Tournament yesterday. The team won 1st and 2nd place trophies. The first place team was composed of Brittany Phillips, Page Landers, Brittany Haynes, Erin Hibbs, and Hannah Conallis. Brittany Phillips won 1st place medalist with an 88 and Erin Hibbs won 4th place medalist with a 91. Congratulations to all these young ladies.

Hey Warriors for Homecoming this year Student Council is selling Memory Bracelets for $1. These bracelets honor Chief Petty Officer Matt Mills. Matt was a 1995 Martin High School Graduate, a member of the Warrior Varsity football program and a member of U.S. Navy Seal Team 6. He was killed in action in Afghanistan this past August. Student Council is raising money for an educational fund for his children. Student Council will be selling bracelets until Homecoming. Our goal is to try to raise $5,000 for this fund! So help us out and buy one TODAY !

The Booster Cross Country Club would like to Thank all of you that participated in 5K and 1 mile fun run. A Special Thanks to the MHS student trainers and Key Club members for their help in directing the course and providing water for the runners. The "Golden Shoe" award went to the Martin High School Key Club as they had the most participants in the 5K and 1 mile fun run. Attention all sophomores and college bound juniors. The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 12th at 7:35 AM. The test provides firsthand practice for the SAT and provides the opportunity to enter National Merit scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools. The PSAT is strongly recommended for all college bound juniors and will be required for all sophomores...Repeat...required for all sophomores. Registration will begin for juniors on September 8th and 9th through English classes. Sophomores will be automatically registered. Freshman will be allowed to register if space is available September 15th-20th.

Attention Seniors ... If you painted your parking spot and left trash, barricades, cones or paint cans in the parking lot ... THEY MUST BE REMOVED FROM CAMPUS TODAY !!! It is your responsibility to haul your trash and paint items OFF Campus. Don't put them in the school trash bins. If you leave your trash on the lot you run the risk of losing your spot !!! Also remember that you WERE NOT supposed to paint over the White stripes - if you did and don't repaint them you run the risk of losing your reserved parking spot. Sophomores please remember that the East and West lots are reserved for Juniors and Seniors only... You should be parking in the North Lot by the baseball fields. No one should be parking in the BAND Grid AFTER 3:00. Please move your cars by 3:00 so the band can practice.

Martin Players are proud to present our first production of the year. The play is RABBIT HOLE and it is a sensitive drama which takes a wrenching look at grief and healing, yet it also serves generous spoonfuls of laughter. The cast and crew have been working through the summer in order to bring this beautiful production to Martin audiences on September the 1st through 5th, in the Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $8.00 and will be sold during lunch in the Little Theatre Lobby. Seating in the Black Box Theatre is limited, so plan to buy your tickets before we sell out.
