Seguin Students Achieve Texas All-State Choir
Great News! This weekend we had the third round of elimination for the Texas All-State Choir. This is what we consider the most difficult round, as we have now reduced the 700 students that started in our region to 40 (the top 5 in each section). In this competition the students are going head-to-head with all schools 5A, etc. Seguin has three students advancing to the final round of all-state auditions in Midland in January, as well as a fourth student who will go as an alternate. Before this year, we have only had three all-state choir students in the history of Seguin High School so the potential for three this year is an outstanding achievement for these kids. Please congratulate the following students for their great work:
Anna J. - 2nd Chair, Soprano 1
Heather G. - 2nd Chair, Alto 2
Greg S. - 5th Chair, Tenor 2
Kimberly E. - 7th chair (second alternate) - Alto

We're so proud of the young ladies (above) who signed their college scholarships on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Alexis J. will be attending Ouachita Baptist in Arkansas on a softball scholarship as a catcher. Amber D. will be attending Steven F. Austin on a volleyball scholarship as a middle blocker. Recca T. will be attending Hampton University on a basketball scholarship as a point guard.
Congratulations, Volleyball Area Champs and Varsity Football!
Way to go, Coach Rudolph and the Girls Varsity Volleyball Lady Cougars! Over the weekend, on Friday, November 14, our girls played Hereford High School in the Regional Volleyball Tournament in San Angelo. Although we didn't win this game to advance to the next round, our girls played their hearts out against the #1 ranked team in Texas! They demonstrated courage, heart, and class as they battled for a win. Congratulations to Coach Rudolph and her team for a job well done and a wonderful and exciting season!
Congratulations, Mr. Rinn!

The Arlington Education Foundation awarded a $1,000 grant to the Seguin Choral Department for "Experiencing Beethoven," a project co-designed by Thomas Rinn (Seguin High School) and Dinah Menger (Arlington High School). Through collaborative efforts of the two school's choirs, orchestras, and bands, students will study and present the historic Mass in C, by Beethoven, in a concert at Texas Wesleyan University's Martin Hall on Thursday, May 14, 2009.
