Advanced Placement exams are scheduled for May 3-14, 2010. Registration to take these exams will be held February 1-19. Students who plan to take Advanced Placement exams will register through their high school counseling offices.

Home-schooled students wishing to register for the Advanced Placement exams will need to contact the counseling office of the AISD high school that s/he would attend if enrolled in AISD. You will need to present proof of residency and a photo ID at the time of registration.

Prom Deposits
The 2010 Prom will soon be here. Starting Monday, January 25 through Friday, February 12, you may purchase your prom tickets in Mrs. Ellis' room (A132) between 7:20 am and 3:00 pm. Tickets cost $50 each...or, you may make a deposit of $25 per ticket (cash only!). Any balance due (remaining $25 per ticket) may be paid in full anytime between Monday, March 22, through Friday, April 9 (again, cash only).

Free Enterprise Lesson Nets Large Rewards for 2nd Graders - article summarized from Career and Technical Education Newsletter

In recognition of the FBLA American Free Enterprise celebration, Seguin High School FBLA students (junior Hina S. and sophomore John C.) developed a short lesson about money and presented it at Pearcy Elementary. The 2nd graders played a game, where pairs of students would count a stack of play money. The object of the game: the first student to count the money correctly won the round. After the game, students were given an outline of a dollar bill. The students colored it, drawing themselves in the center of the currency.

Seguin Step Team Wins 3rd Place Trophy!

Seguin's Elite Lady Steppers participated in their first step show compeition on Saturday, January 16, at the 8th Annual DFW Stomp Down, which took place at Trimble Tech High School. After weeks of practice, the ladies excelled and brought home a 3rd-place trophy out of 20 participating schools! They were awesome! Please join Ms. Jordan and Ms. Hundley, the step team's sponsors, in congratulating the step team. We are proud of these ladies and look forward to their future performance success this coming school semester.

Seguin's HOSA club has 16 students qualified to go to state in their events! This was a tough area competition, and they did soooo well. Please congratulate them and wish them well for the upcoming April State contest.

Congratulations, All-State Band Students!
Mr. Robert Poulin, Seguin Band Director, recently had six of his students travel to Midland, TX, for the Area competition, and three of those students advanced to be named Texas All-State musicians.

• Ariel S. on flute made All-State for the 2nd year in a row (2nd chair)
• Sarah P. on oboe made All-State for the 2nd year in a row (1st chair)
• Andrew W. on trumpet made All-State for a Seguin band record 3rd year in a row! (1st chair)

Also, Heather G., from choir, made it as All-State vocalist!

Congratulations to these fine, outstanding, young musicians. They are truly the best of the best of wonderful students and young adults.
