Provisional Enrollment

 

 

 

     A recent opinion rendered by the Texas Attorney General concludes that the Texas Department of Health has the exclusive authority to regulate a child’s provisional admission to school with respect to immunization status.  A student may be Provisionally Enrolled for 30 days if:

 

 

A student may not be enrolled or remain enrolled if:

§       Student must provide a record that he has begun the required series of vaccine doses to enroll.

§       Student must continue to receive the doses on schedule to remain enrolled.

 

o      Student who has not received any immunizations may not be admitted to school unless exempted for reasons of conscience or medical necessity.
