Provisional Enrollment
A recent opinion
rendered by the Texas Attorney General concludes that the Texas Department of
Health has the exclusive authority to regulate a child’s provisional
admission to school with respect to immunization status. A student may be Provisionally
Enrolled for 30 days if:
A student may not
be enrolled or remain enrolled if:
§
Student must provide a record that he has
begun the required series of vaccine doses to enroll.
§
Student must continue to receive the doses
on schedule to remain enrolled.

Student who has not received any
immunizations may not be admitted to school unless exempted for reasons of
conscience or medical necessity.
