Attention Incoming Sixth Grade
Students
Due to
space restrictions in Sixth Grade classrooms, we are requesting that
you bring ONLY backpacks that will fit into your lockers. We do not
have space to store rolling backpacks nor large backpacks. We suggest
bags or backpacks that are approximately 18" x 14". |
SIXTH GRADE Rules and Procedures1. Be prepared for class. 2. Talk with permission. 3. Follow directions the first time given. 4. Use time wisely. 5. Inappropriate behavior will NOT be
tolerated.
Students who follow the rules will earn:
1. FLINGS--special activities held every three weeks
*To qualify for Flings, a student must have no more than a total of 3 marks on conduct card.2. Positive stamps on conduct card 3. Acknowledgement of good behavior by either verbal or nonverbal recognition 4. Good notes or calls home 5. Individual rewards 6. End-of-six-weeks special rewards: a. 250 total points = special activity b. 300 total points = special activity and celebration c. Points over 350 will go into a checking account to be traded for special privileges d. 350 points and no more than 1 mark = HONOR CARD e. Loss of card: -50 points (if card is found in same week, 25 points will be added back) NOTE: To qualify for (a.) above, students can have no more than 5 marks during the six weeks. To qualify for (b.) above, students can have no more than 5 marks during the six weeks. To qualify for (c.) above, students can have no more than 3 marks during the six weeks.
HONOR CARD PRIVILEGES: Library: may check out 6 books Safety Patrol Office Helper Lounge Helper Library Helper Errand Runner Teacher Helper--Friday after Report Cards each six weeks Teacher Switch-Around Day (4 Honor Cards)
CHECKBOOK TRADE-INS 75 You may eat lunch with a principal (pre-arranged) 25 Trade seats with a willing classmate for one period on a designated day w/teacher approval 25 Teacher for a class (pre-arranged) 25 One free test answer (one per test) 20 Free 100 (daily work)--one per class per six weeks (w/prior approval) 20 Ten-minute walk-talk at designated times 20 Locker Pass 12 Buy a pencil, red pencil, pen, red pen from a teacher
CONSEQUENCES OF BREAKING RULES First time per class: verbal warning
Subsequent times per class: Conduct card signed; loss of 2 points
SEVERE CLAUSE: When a student does something that is harmful, abusive, or extremely disruptive, he or she will go immediately to the administration for appropriate disciplinary action; 6 black marks; automatic "N" on report card; loss of Honor Card and Checkbook.
Consequences for late work: green mark on conduct card; loss of 2 points
Consequences for lacking supplies: blue mark on conduct card; loss of 2 points
