Speech therapists have a degree
in communication disorders and a Texas License in Speech-Language
Pathology.
PURPOSE The responsibilities of the speech pathologist are to conduct assessments, create and implement Individual Educational Plans, collect data for reports, maintain eligibility folders, and update computer records according to the special education timelines. After writing evaluation recommendations, SLP's set up ARD committee meetings to conference with parents and determine placement. They develop unique learning environments appropriate for each student by collaborating with administrators and teachers. Staff development, campus and district level meetings are attended to keep abreast of new information and changes in policies and procedures. Mrs. Pitt feels very blessed to be a part of the Wood Elementary faculty. |
