Welcome to Young Junior High School! One of the things that I wanted to work with our community to address this year is communication and involvement. As many of you may have noticed, we’ve begun using the district calling system to notify our students and their families of upcoming events. We want parents to be involved partners with us in your child’s education, and, to that end, we’ll be holding community events throughout the year, such as our Coffee Talks, a come and go time for you to come and meet with me and others from the district. As the year progresses, I look forward to meeting with all of you and getting to know you and your children. Should you need to contact me, please don’t hesitate to call me at the school or e-mail me at rjones1@aisd.net.

Hello to all Young Junior High School Eagle students and parents! We are the bold Green and Gold! I am truly fortunate to be here at Young Junior High living out my dream. Let me tell you a little about myself. I graduated with a B.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas. My journey in education began in 1994 when I received my Secondary History Certification and began teaching at Owen Goodnight Junior High in San Marcos TX. After one year I moved to Fort Worth where I married my college sweetheart Judy! We have been married going on 14 years this December. Once in the Metroplex I began teaching at Christine Barnett Junior High where I taught Texas and United States History for seven years. I left Barnett to help open Juan Seguin High School and remained there for five, teaching World Geography and United States History. While there I was also sponsor of the Peer Assisted Leadership group and Student Council. It was during this time I received my Master’s of Education in Administration from Texas Wesleyan University, which allowed me to move over to YJH at the start of the 2007 – 2008 school. This year will mark my fourth with the awesome faculty, staff and students of YJH! I want everyone to have a banner here while here! Please feel free to contact me at jperez@aisd.net |
