August 12, 2020

Hello Parents,

We are looking forward to starting the new school year. We know there are a lot of questions and uncertainties, but we want you to know we are here for you and your student. Again, I cannot stress to you enough that no question is too small, please reach out to me at sdhalla@aisd.net.

To help answer a lot of your questions, we have put together a resource we thing will help. We are calling it the Student & Parent Guide Book. You can access a copy at this link.

TRADUCCIÓN EN ESPAÑOL DISPONIBLE:
https://www.aisd.net/arlington-high-school/uncategorized/2020/08/11/mensaje-de-la-di…e-agosto-de-2020/

This Guide Book has A LOT of information. I don’t know that you will be able to read it all, but here is a breakdown by topic:

  • Introduction & Disclaimer
  • Bell Schedule
  • Alpha Breakdowns for AP’s and Counselors
  • A/B Day Calendar
  • Attendance Information
  • Online Learning / Grading Policies
  • Counseling Services
  • Social & Emotional Learning
  • PBIS Matrix
  • Student Expectations
  • Academic Policy
  • Textbook Information/Links
  • ARD/504 Information
  • Social Media Information
  • Meals Pick-Up Information
  • Tech Support for Devices
  • Tech Support for Digital Platforms

Like I said, it is a lot of information, but I think will be useful as we navigate our new normal. Specifically the last two pages on how to reset passwords, and login as both a student and parent.

As the year progresses, we will update this document to also include procedures for when we return face-to-face.

Update: We understand that the district reset all student passwords earlier this week. We will send guidance ASAP on how students will be able to create new passwords and login to district systems.

The district offices have told us that Canvas courses will be ready by as early as Friday for login, but that it may take until Saturday night. If it does not work on Friday, please try again this weekend.

Schedules will be available via Teams Student Self-Serveby Thursday morning.  Click here for Link for student self-serve

Open House

Open House will be virtual on Monday, August 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

We will follow a bell schedule. You will join teachers in their zoom rooms for 10 minutes. Here teachers will give you a quick overview of their classrooms. You are encouraged to leave questions, comments, and concerns in the chat (privately). This will be fast paced, so there will not be time for a lot of discussion, but we thought this would be the best way for you to meet with all of your child’s teachers. Next week I will send you a link for teacher’s rooms.
