Hi Colts!

We're just minutes away from the first day of school! I know you are full of excitement and apprehension about the new year. I am eager to see how our students have grown over the summer and what this new day will bring. I know we have hard work ahead of us, but we are ready for the challenge.

Please review this email for all you need to have a great first day of school!

Schedules and Password Reset

All students' passwords are being reset. When your student arrives at school, they will be given instructions on how to reset their password and gain access to their schedules.

Building Entrances

Students will be allowed in the building at 3 entrances: Main, New B, and E Hall. These can be found on the attached map. All other doors will be closed to student entry unless a staff member is present and in charge of students upon entry. While this is not convenient, it is not negotiable. It is crucial that we require students to take ownership of their part of our safety protocols.  Therefore, students who open doors for others will be given disciplinary consequences.

Students should never knock on a door for entry. Rather, they should go to Main, New B, or E and ring the doorbell.

Dress Code

Our dress code is reasonable and allows for students to express themselves, be comfortable and/or fashionable, abide by our safety standards, and still be considerate of our school as a learning environment. Please see the attachment for the AHS Dress Code.

Attendance Matters

It is imperative to learning and safety that students come to school on time and be in their classrooms. We will be enforcing our campus Tardy Policy once students are aware of classroom locations. Please see our attached Tardy Policy.

Doors open at 7am and 1st/7th period begins at 7:35.

New Staff

We hired over 50 new staff members this summer. They are excited, engaged, and eager to be Colts! Let's welcome each fresh face to Colt Country.

Please be kind to my staff and to one another this year. We love public education and all of the responsibility that comes with being everything for kids. But we are humans too. I want each of us to commit to being nice to one another, responding with thoughtfulness before anger, and living each day with the understanding that every person is doing their very best.

My goal is always to do everything perfectly, but it's a goal that I will never achieve. We will make mistakes, but we will do our best to use each mistake to get better. I pledge to you that we will do everything we can for your students each day and I absolutely believe that Arlington High School is the best place for your kids.

We love your kids. They are our "why". Thank you for bringing them to us each day and trusting in us to be a part of their journey.

Let's have the best year yet, Colts.

Sincerely,

Stacie Humbles, Principal

Arlington High School

First here. Best here.
