However, we may not get back to you before school starts.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Hi Colts,<\/p>\r\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to believe that we are just about to start our first day of school. It&#8217;s a busy day full of excitement and uncertainty. Don&#8217;t stress if you feel lost &#8211; everyone else feels the same way. (They just try to act like they don&#8217;t.)<\/p>\r\n<p>Here&#8217;s a giant list of Tips and Tricks for the first day of school.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Accessing Schedules<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Students will be allowed to use their phones to access schedules before the 7:35 bell.<\/strong>\u00a0We will have QR codes at each entrance where they will access their 1st and 2nd period classes. When they get to 1st period, they will be given a PAPER SCHEDULE from their teachers, just like old times.<\/p>\r\n<p>PASSWORD RESETS: Over the weekend, student passwords were reset. Luckily, they won&#8217;t need them right away, and we&#8217;ll help students log into their accounts in 1st and 2nd periods.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Morning Arrival<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Please be nice to one another.\u00a0<strong>Angry drivers are a danger to our students.\u00a0<\/strong>Turn on some good music and just plan to wait 15+ minutes.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Doors open at 7:00am for metal checks. 1\/7 Period begins at 7:35.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students can enter the Gallery (Park Row), Cube (Cooper), New B (Park Row), or E Hall (Cooper) at morning drop off.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">If you are dropping off at Park Row,\u00a0<strong><em>pull up to the crosswalk<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>before stopping.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Students can exit Park Row and go to the Gallery, Cube, or New B.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">If you are dropping off at E Hall, enter on Cooper Street and follow the signage to get to the doors. You can drop your student anywhere along the way and proceed to the exit.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">If you are dropping off at any other location, students must use crosswalks to get to campus.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Student Drivers<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students must park in their purchased and assigned spot at the MAC.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Visitors should not park in those spots, even if they are not painted<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Student drivers must display their temporary parking passes on their dash to avoid consequences.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Student drivers who park in someone else&#8217;s spot may lose parking privileges.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Parking permits can be purchased in C205.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Door Policy<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students are not to open any doors for other students or visitors.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students may not enter a door that is being exited by another student or visitor.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">During passing periods, Cube, New B, and E Hall are the only doors of entry, and students will be metal-checked each time they re-enter the building.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">During passing periods, students may exit any door except New B.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Doors are marked with expectations. Students who violate the door policy will be given consequences.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Cell Phones<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Cell phones and smartwatches should be\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/away-for-the-day\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/away-for-the-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">Away for the Day<\/a>\u00a0from 7:35-3pm.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The cell phone policy will follow HB 1481.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Passing Periods<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Passing periods are 9 minutes long.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students are expected to move through hallways politely and respectfully.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>CTC\/Ag Center\/CVPA\/Archery\/ROTC\/Natatorium\/Other campuses<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Students with 1\/7 period off-site are required to provide their own transportation to the site.<\/strong>\u00a0They can ride the bus back to AHS.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students will travel to their off-campus classes starting the first day of school.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Buses park at the MAC for interschool transportation.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Bus times for off-campus classes are located in all teachers&#8217; classrooms. They will receive a temporary badge on the first day of school.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students who lose their badge or temporary badge will enter E Hall with all other students.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>IDs<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">We will make IDs for students throughout the week.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Freshmen and new students will have their first ID made for free.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">All other students will be able to purchase a new ID for $5.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Bus Riders<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">After school buses park at Gym A and E-Hall for transportation home.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Buses leave campus at 3:07 and do not wait for late students.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students will need to\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/district\/departments\/administration\/transportation\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/district\/departments\/administration\/transportation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">look up their bus information<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>After-School Activities<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students who have after-school activities in the main building should not exit the building after school.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students who need to enter the building after 3:00pm must wait for available staff in order to be metal checked upon entry at E-Hall after dismissal.<\/li>\r\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Staff availability for metal checks after school will vary. Students will need to plan with their teachers if they need to enter the building after hours.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>I know this is a lot, so just save this email and refer back to whatever you need whenever you need it. You don&#8217;t have to memorize everything right now.<\/p>\r\n<p>For the next 2 weeks, we&#8217;ll be training your students on all of these protocols. They will mess up. We know that. We&#8217;ll be there to correct them and help them. Warnings and reminders will be given until we feel the students have had ample opportunities to learn the procedures.<\/p>\r\n<p>We cannot wait to see your kids this year. Enjoy your last few moments of summer.
