My name is Mary Frances Nelson and I have been at Ashworth since 2012. I grew up in Missouri and attended Missouri Western State University where I received a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. During my first two years of teaching, I pursued my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Missouri University. In 2003, I relocated to Arlington. I have taught PreK, first, third, fifth, and sixth grades in both Missouri and Texas. This is my eleventh year of teaching. In 2014, I was honored as Teacher of the Year at Ashworth Elementary School.
Personally, I have been married to my husband, Philip, for 18 years. We have three sons, who attend school in AISD. My afternoons and weekends are spent on the soccer, football, and baseball fields where you will always see me with a book in my hand!
I currently serve on the district Energy Committee as the representative for Ashworth Elementary, and help mentor future teachers enlisted in the Ready Set Teach Program.
