<script>console.log({"ORGANIZATIONID":"149","LASTNAME":"Kilgore","FIRSTNAME":"Herman","TITLE":"Assistant Principal - Elementary","EMAIL":"hkilgore@aisd.net","ORG_NAME":"Ashworth Elementary","LOC_NAME":"Ashworth Elementary"});</script>{"id":41,"date":"2017-02-03T09:31:41","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T15:31:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aisd.net\/elementary-campus\/?page_id=41"},"modified":"2025-08-19T14:24:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T19:24:11","slug":"policies-and-procedures","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/ashworth-elementary\/about\/policies-and-procedures\/","title":{"rendered":"Policies &#038; Procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Dress Code<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<p>Ashworth Elementary conforms to the Arlington ISD Dress Code as defined in the Student Code of Conduct, which may be obtained through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/student-support\/\">the District web site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Notice Regarding Ability to Refuse Entry or Eject Certain Persons and Appeals Process<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<p>In accordance with Texas\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/ED\/htm\/ED.37.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Education Code 37.105 - Opens a new window\">Education Code 37.105<\/a>\u00a0UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS: REFUSAL OF ENTRY, EJECTION, IDENTIFICATION &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>(a)\u00a0 A school administrator, school resource officer, or school district peace officer of a school district may refuse to allow a person to enter on or may eject a person from property under the district&#8217;s control if the person refuses to leave peaceably on request and:<\/p>\n<p>(1)\u00a0 The person poses a substantial risk of harm to any person; or<\/p>\n<p>(2)\u00a0 The person behaves in a manner that is inappropriate for a school setting and:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (A)\u00a0 The administrator, resource officer, or peace officer issues a verbal warning to the person that the person&#8217;s behavior is inappropriate and may result in the person&#8217;s refusal of entry or ejection; and<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (B)\u00a0 The person persists in that behavior.<\/p>\n<p>(b)\u00a0 Identification may be required of any person on the property.<\/p>\n<p>(c)\u00a0 Each school district shall maintain a record of each verbal warning issued under Subsection (a) (2) (A), including the name of the person to whom the warning was issued and the date of issuance.<\/p>\n<p>(d)\u00a0 At the time a person is refused entry to or ejected from a school district&#8217;s property under this section, the district shall provide to the person written information explaining the appeal process established under Subsection (h).<\/p>\n<p>(e)\u00a0 If a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in a school district is refused entry to the district&#8217;s property under this section, the district shall accommodate the parent or guardian to ensure that the parent or guardian may participate in the child&#8217;s admission, review, and dismissal committee or in the child&#8217;s team established under Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. Section 794), in accordance with federal law.<\/p>\n<p>(f)\u00a0 The term of a person&#8217;s refusal of entry to or ejection from a school district&#8217;s property under this section may not exceed two years.<\/p>\n<p>(g)\u00a0 A school district shall post on the district&#8217;s internet website and each campus shall post on any internet website of the campus a notice regarding the provisions of this section, including the appeal process established under Subsection (h).<\/p>\n<p>(h)\u00a0 The commissioner shall adopt rules to implement this section, including rules establishing a process for a person to appeal to the board of trustees of the school district the decision under Subsection (a) to refuse the person&#8217;s entry to or eject the person from the district&#8217;s property.<\/p>\n<p>A person ejected from or refused entry to District property under this provision may appeal this action by filing an appeal under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pol.tasb.org\/Policy\/Code\/1109?filter=FNG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"FNG(LOCAL) - Opens a new window\">FNG(LOCAL)<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pol.tasb.org\/Policy\/Code\/1109?filter=GF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"GF(LOCAL) - Opens a new window\">GF(LOCAL)<\/a>\u00a0and shall be permitted to address the Board in person within 90 days of the commencement of the appeal if the grievance is not resolved at a previous level before the board considers the appeal.<\/p>\n<p>The board&#8217;s decision to grant or deny an appeal under this section is final and may only be further appealed under the applicable provisions of Texas Education Code 7.057.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>School-wide Policies<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<ol>\n<li>Follow directions the first time they are given.<\/li>\n<li>Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.<\/li>\n<li>Walk at all times.<\/li>\n<li>No gum. (This is a Gum Free Campus&#8230; inside and outside.)<\/li>\n<li>No name-calling, cursing, or teasing.<\/li>\n<li>No fighting.<\/li>\n<li>Walk bicycles\/scooters on campus. Wear helmets.<\/li>\n<li>No skate boards, beepers, electronic games\/pets, laser lights.<\/li>\n<li>Cell phones cannot be on during supervised periods.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Student Behavior<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<p>As part of the Texas Education Code (Sec. 37.0012), all schools in Texas shall designate a Campus Behavior Coordinator whose primary responsibility is to maintain student discipline for the campus and be a contact for parents or guardians concerning individual student disciplinary actions by the school. Teachers will allow students to call in emergency situations, for discipline concerns, and other matters deemed important. Students should arrange after-school play prior to coming to school. Students cannot be called out of class to talk on the phone.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Visitors<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<p>Visitors are welcome at Ashworth; however, we are vigilant about the precautions we take in order to ensure student safety.<\/p>\n<p>When a child is released early from school, the person that is picking up the student must be listed on the student&#8217;s enrollment information as a person to whom the child can be released. The person picking up the student must present a photo ID. We will not release any student to a person who is not listed and\/or does not present a photo ID at the time of release.<\/p>\n<p>The outside doors of Ashworth Elementary will be closed and locked at 8:20 AM and will remain closed and locked throughout the day. Any person who enters the building will need to enter through the front doors, sign in and obtain a visitors badge.<\/p>\n<p>AISD is SMOKE-FREE.
