Campus Role: Teacher
Campus Team:

Hello, my name is Penny Thompson. I teach System 44 and Read 180. These are reading improvement programs designed to improve 7th and 8th graders’ reading level, fluency, and comprehension. I enjoy teaching these courses because I get to see dramatic improvements in these areas as the year progresses. This program is so successful that many of my students walk across the end-of-year awards stage with content area certificates in their hands because their reading has improved so much.

This is my second year back at Bailey; as I worked here for five years prior. In total, this is my 20th year of teaching. My children, Bodie and Chloe, attend AISD schools as well. In fact, Bodie is at Bailey with me. I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where I earned my B.S. in Education. Throughout these years, I have taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, and secondary grades at Dunn Elementary, Millwood Hospital, Criswell Elementary (in Forney), and now I have returned home, to Bailey. I look forward to teaching your child. We are a unique program, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching my students the joys of perfecting their reading.
