New security cameras installed at Sam Houston High School

New security camera displays at Sam Houston High School

New security cameras funded by the 2014 Bond package are up and running at Sam Houston High School, the first Arlington high school to receive the cameras. “The clarity of these cameras are much better than our previous systems,” explained James Smith, AISD security manager. (The photo displays the views of 80 of the 128 cameras on the Sam Houston campus.)

Twenty-four AISD schools will receive new security cameras this year as part of Phase I of the 2014 Bond package. Throughout the course of the five-year bond implementation, all schools will receive new cameras.

The new cameras will allow the AISD security department to increase video surveillance from 35 to 80 percent of all buildings and will be especially important for improving coverage of libraries, gyms and cafeterias.
