Sam Houston High School’s new cafeteria addition opens

Sam Houston High School's new cafeteria

Dec. 12, 2017 - Sam Houston High School's new cafeteria addition opened yesterday and provides a larger dining space for students with plenty of natural light and an outdoor courtyard.

"I want to thank the AISD food service department, Pouge Construction, and our custodial staff for all their hard work this weekend to ensure we were ready to open and serve our students today," said Sam Houston Principal Fernando Benavides.

Now that the new cafeteria is open, work in the old cafeteria will begin. The space will be demolished and then converted into new classrooms, including science labs and art rooms.

The bond-funded cafeteria addition, located on the east side of the existing building, is parallel to Sam Houston's other new addition, the ninth-grade classroom wing, which opened at the beginning of the school year.
