Dunn Elementary thanks roofers with a pizza party

Construction crew that roofed Duff Elementary pose after a pizza party

April 12, 2018 - Dunn Elementary hosted a pizza party last Wednesday for the construction crew that just completed putting a new roof on the school. Dunn Principal Mary Helen Burnett received received zero complaints of noise or smells during the roofing process and wanted to thank the roofers for their outstanding work.

“As a campus, we prepared in advance for the challenges that accompany construction and, in particular, roofing," Burnett said.

Roofing can be loud and smelly, but the construction team at Dunn were careful to disrupt the school as little as possible. Construction is being managed by Imperial Construction and the roofing was done by Tri-Lam Roofing and Waterproofing.

"To my surprise," Burnett said, "it went smoothly, and our construction superintendent, Joe Dulock, was quick to respond if we ever had any concerns. At the earlier-than-expected conclusion of the roofing phase of construction, I expressed how pleased we were with their prompt completion and great communication. To that remark, Joe shared that his team all agreed that they were the best roofing crew with whom they have ever worked. We all decided that was definitely worth a special lunch treat!”

In addition to roofing, Dunn has also received an expanded parking lot, new office space and some new sidewalks. Ongoing work includes construction of STEM labs, a strings room and front-entrance security vestibule.
