My name is Dr. Channa Barrett and I am so excited to be an Assistant Principal at James Bowie High School. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education, with a minor in French, from University of Oklahoma- Boomer Sooner!!! After teaching science in Oklahoma for two years, I moved back home to Texas and begin teaching Pre-AP chemistry and AP chemistry for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Shortly after, I received my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from University of Texas at Arlington. While obtaining my master’s degree, and throughout part of my doctoral studies, I worked for Fort Worth ISD as a Master Science Teacher and Instructional Coach while coaching teachers through the Teacher Quality Program at Texas Christian University. I completed my PhD studies in Science Education with emphasis in biochemistry education- Go Frogs! I am so honored to serve our students, teachers, and staff at Bowie High School!
