Hector Valadez Teacher

9-12 Special Education Alternate Curriculum Department Lead

Prior to teaching I worked various positions in human services such as a case manager at a homeless shelter, behavior interventionist for the state of Texas, in home counselor for troubled children and adolescents, and a Family Teacher for abused/neglected children. I entered the teaching profession to continue impacting lives and make a difference.I very much enjoy my time here at Bowie High School teaching in the SPED Alternate Curriculum department. I have taught math and history in the past but focus now on post-secondary employment and transition for students with special needs. These classes are focused on extending the classroom with courses like Community Based Instruction, Principals of Business and Marketing and other career/community oriented classes. I earned my B.S in Counseling from Southwestern Assemblies of God University and earned my M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University-Portland. In my time off I enjoy being outside with my family, grilling and barbecuing (there is a difference), finding new music, movies, Netflix, listening to informative/inspirational podcasts, date nights with my wife, volunteering at my church, and watching Spurs basketball. #gospursgo #positivebowie
