Mr. McCorvey (AKA “Mr. Mac”) is a Health Science Instructor. He holds a Master’s degree in Health Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Professions from the University of Texas at Tyler. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. He has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field where as a certified Medical Technologist (MT). He served as the Director of Communicable Disease Programs, Regional Epidemiologist, and Director of Medical Transportation Programs at Texas Department of State Health Services from 1999 to 2016. He is currently serving in his 21st year in the US Army Reserve Medical Department as a Lieutenant Colonel and is currently assigned as the Officer in Charge of Pharmacy, Lab and XRAY (PLX) at the 94th Combat Support Hospital in Seagoville, Texas. He is trained as Combat Medic (EMT) and has deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan along with active duty tours as Chief of Clinical Laboratory Services at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and as Commander of the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Bliss, Texas from 2018 to 2020. He is a member of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists and the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. Mr. McCorvey is a science enthusiast, amateur astronomer and enjoys fishing. He is married and has 3 children. “Children make life worth living” is a Muhammed Ali quote that describes his love for young learners and his passion for teaching.
