Graphic Design II Students Tour Jarvis Press in Dallas

Graphic Design II students went to Jarvis Press in Dallas on February 14 to see how digital files are prepared and printed. They were able to see how digital files are separated into 4 colors for printing on digital and offset presses. They saw pieces being printed, die-cut, folded and stapled or saddle-stitched for clients like Honda, JC Penney and Home Depot. As graphic designers, they will someday be going on press-checks to see their work being printed. The offset presses are bigger than buses and the Jarvis facility is over 140,000 square feet housing pre-press, printing, folding, binding and shipping. This experience was a real eye-opener for the students. Special thanks to the wonderful folks at Jarvis Press for the tour and the snacks!
