Temperatures will be taken for all individuals as they enter the building. A student or individual who registers 100.0 as a temperature will be directed aside for 5-10 minutes to allow a cooling period. If the temperature still registers 100.0 or greater, students will be placed in a symptomatic holding area to wait while the parent is called to come for them.<\/p>\nStudents in grades 1-12 will be\u00a0<b>required<\/b>\u00a0to wear a mask. The school environment is safest and the spread of the virus most controlled when all individuals wear a mask, especially at times when remaining 6 feet from others is difficult.\u00a0\u00a0<b><i>Parents who wish to request a medical exemption allowing their child to attend in-person school without a mask must obtain the exemption from their medical provider- Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Physician&#8217;s Assistant, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse- and it must state the reason for the exemption.<br \/>\n<\/i><\/b>\n<p>Actions taken if a person is positive or shows symptoms of COVID-19:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Any person, whether student, teacher, or staff who:\n<ol>\n<li>Tests positive for COVID-19 with a laboratory test<\/li>\n<li>Experiences symptoms of COVID-19\n<ol>\n<li>Positive individual\n<ol>\n<li>Must remain at home in self-isolation for a\u00a0<b>minimum of 10 days<\/b><\/li>\n<li>May return at the end of 10 days if:\n<ol>\n<li>Fever free without the use of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours<\/li>\n<li><b>And<\/b>\u00a0symptoms of COVID-19 have improved<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Symptomatic individual\n<ol>\n<li>Must remain at home in self-isolation for a\u00a0<b>minimum of 10 days<\/b><\/li>\n<li>May return at the end of 10 days if:\n<ol>\n<li>Fever free without the use of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours<\/li>\n<li><b>And<\/b>\u00a0symptoms of COVID-19 have improved<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If the\u00a0<b>symptomatic<\/b>\u00a0individual wishes to return to school or work prior to the 10-day period above:\n<ol>\n<li>They must present a written diagnosis of another cause for the symptoms from a medical provider-MD, OD, PA, or APN.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Contacts of the positive person must self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last contact day with the positive person.\n<ol>\n<li>Testing does not release this person because the incubation period of the virus is 14 days<\/li>\n<li>The entire 14-day period must pass before this person may return to work or school<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Students who are positive, have symptoms, or are contacts must be excluded from school for the required number of days\n<ol>\n<li>Secondary-the nurse will prepare a list in collaboration with the campus administrative team, and the attendance clerk will record the student as absent for the required exclusion period\n<ol>\n<li>If a student reports to school during the required exclusion period, they will be directed to the office\/clinic<\/li>\n<li>If the student was merely symptomatic and presents the required healthcare evaluation or testing results, they will be returned to class<\/li>\n<li>Students who are contacts, positive, or symptomatic and do not present the required documents will be placed in the designated area to await parent pick-up, and the parent will be notified to pick them up<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>All staff, students, and families must be notified that a person tested positive for COVID-19, student confidentiality must be maintained.\nSymptoms of COVID-19\n<p>Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit<\/p>\n<p>Loss of taste or smell<\/p>\n<p>Cough<\/p>\n<p>Difficulty breathing<\/p>\n<p>Shortness of breath<\/p>\n<p>Fatigue<\/p>\n<p>Headache<\/p>\n<p>Chills<\/p>\n<p>Sore throat<\/p>\n<p>Congestion or runny nose<\/p>\n<p>Shaking or exaggerated shivering<\/p>\n<p>Significant muscle pain or ache<\/p>\n<p>Diarrhea<\/p>\n<p>Nausea or vomiting<\/p>\n<b>FAQ:\u00a0<\/b>\n<p><b>Does a negative test change the self-isolation?<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0No. Contacts must remain in isolation for the full 14 days due to the incubation period of the virus.<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Do classmates of a sibling of a positive student also need to be sent home?<\/b>\u00a0No, they are contacts of a contact unless the sibling also tests positive. The sibling does have to isolate for 14 days as a household member of a positive person.<\/p>\n<p><b>Does wearing a face covering change who is a contact?<\/b>\u00a0No. The definition of contact does not change if the person was wearing a face covering.<\/p>\n<p><b>If the students were moving around the room, and may not have been 6 feet apart all the time, how do we determine contacts?<\/b>\u00a0If the students were moving around the room, or it is not possible to confirm they were 6 feet apart, they are contacts.<\/p>\n\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>When to keep your child at home<\/h2>\n<h3>KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME WHEN:<\/h3>\nChild has a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.7 degrees Celsius or higher<br \/>\nChild has diarrhea or vomiting<br \/>\nChild has a rash of unknown origin<br \/>\nChild has&#8217; red, runny eyes or wakes up with eyes &#8220;glued&#8221; shut<br \/>\nChild complains of ear pain with or without fever\n<h3>YOUR CHILD MAY RETURN WHEN:<\/h3>\nChild is fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or other fever reducers.<br \/>\nChild is free of diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours<br \/>\nYou have consulted a healthcare professional.*<br \/>\nYou have consulted a healthcare professional for the appropriate antibiotic therapy.*<br \/>\nYou have consulted a healthcare professional for appropriate care.*\n<p>Upon returning to school the child must bring a signed release from the health care professional to the school nurse&#8217;s office, or report to the nurse free of symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>REMEMBER: -Medications must be kept in the school clinic with a doctor&#8217;s and a parent&#8217;s signature authorizing permission for dispensing the medication., including cough drops and other over the counter medicines.<\/p>\nYou know your children best, if they don&#8217;t seem well, they probably aren&#8217;t.<br \/>\nKeep them home and consult a health care professional if necessary.\n<p>NOTE: PLEASE KEEP EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS CURRENT IN THE CLINIC &#8211; YOUR CHILD MAY NEED YOU!<\/p>\n<h3>Deja su ni\u00f1o(a) en la casa sl:<\/h3>\nTiene una temperatura de 100 F\/37.7&#8242; 0 mas.<br \/>\nTiene diarrea o estavomitado.<br \/>\nTiene un sarpullido de origen desconocido.<br \/>\nTiene los ojos rojos y corriendo o despierta con los ojos pegados.<br \/>\nTiene dolor en los oidos con o sin flebre.\n<h3>Su ni\u00f1o(a) puede regresar cuando:<\/h3>\nEsta Ilbre de fiebre por 24 horas sin tomar Tylenol 0 otro tipo de medicina para reducer flebre.<br \/>\nEsta libre de diarrea o v\u00f3mito.<br \/>\nUsted hi consultado un doctor.
