Arlington ISD “holds budget process to a very high standard”

The Arlington ISD has been honored with a Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for its excellence in budget presentation for the 2020-21 school year.

The award was given by the Association of School Business Officials International. Participants submit applications and budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA criteria checklist and other requirements. Feedback is provided that districts can use to improve their budget documents.

“We know how important it is to present a budget that’s easy for everyone to understand,” Arlington ISD chief financial officer Darla Moss said. “We believe in transparency. We also believe in holding our budget process to a very high standard. This award is further proof that we’re accomplishing those goals.”

Districts that show they’ve met the program requirements can apply for either an Meritorious Budget Award MBA or a Pathway to MBA.

“Districts that apply to the MBA or Pathway to the MBA programs recognize the importance of presenting a high-quality, easy-to-understand budget internally and to the community,” ASBO International Executive Director David J. Lewis said. “By participating in the programs, not only do districts have access to the tools and resources they need to communicate the district’s goals and objectives clearly, they demonstrate their commitment to upholding nationally recognized budget presentation standards.”
