Changes Announced for Student Meal Plan

The Arlington ISD is changing its student meal plan to take advantage of the new flexibilities extended by the United States Department of Agriculture last week.

Free Meals Now Available for Children 18 and Under

Effective immediately, meals will be free for all children ages 18 and under. Children do not have to be enrolled in the Arlington ISD to receive the free meals, which is the way it worked during the spring and summer after schools were closed because of COVID-19.

Parents and guardians can pick up meals for children who are not present if they have the proper documentation. A student ID badge from a school, a student report card from the 2019-20 school year, a birth certificate or an official letter/email from a district, charter or private school showing children in the household are acceptable documentation.

Students enrolled in the Arlington ISD are still asked to provide their student ID number to receive meals.

New Process Begins September 28

The current bi-weekly student meal plan is distributed from 30 locations and will run through Sept. 24. Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, meals will be available for students attending classes in person. Students receiving online instruction will be able to receive meals from 1:30 p.m-2:30 p.m. from 29 locations beginning Sept. 28.

The extended meal flexibilities may end at any time and are expected to end on Jan. 1, 2021. While meals will be free to all children 18 and under while the flexibilities are extended, we strongly encourage all families to complete a meal benefit application. Meal benefit applications need to be submitted each year to continue meal benefits. Applications are available online at or by going to the food and nutrition services department page.

Meal Applications

Meal applications are also available throughout the year at the Arlington ISD food and nutrition services office located at 5618 West Arkansas Lane, Arlington, TX 76016, from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If your child is enrolled in a campus operating the Community Eligibility Program, he/she will receive meal benefits automatically.
