GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Scientists should have opportunities to engage in scientific investigations using questions and inquiry methods to analyze information that help make informed decisions based on evidence and scientific tools to collect and record information.

INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK & ACTIVE STUDENT LEARNING

Scientists should explore science concepts through concrete experiences such as lab and field experiences. These should allow scientists to experience science through observing, measuring, interpreting, experimenting, model building, and predicting to make student-centered generalizations, and enduring understandings.

Scientists attain their knowledge by synthesizing the concepts through experiences that allow them to classify, compare, generalize, evaluate, infer, analyze, and justify their findings and understandings.

Scientists transfer and apply their generalizations and understandings into unpredictable real-world situations by designing, hypothesizing, model creating, deriving, evaluating, and analyzing into a variety of known and unknown contexts.
