2022 LEARNING TAKES YOU PLACES FOR GRADES PK-6 BY INVITATION ONLY

The 2022 Learning Takes You Places summer learning program is the fun your child wants and the summer learning your child needs! Students will sharpen their reading, writing and math skills while participating in fun and interesting academic classes and take part in exciting enrichment activities. Each day is designed to help make sure your child does not forget what they learned this year and better prepares them for success next year and beyond.

There is no cost to attend! Students will receive breakfast, lunch, and transportation to and from their home campus daily. Breakfast is 30 minutes before the start of the program time. This 19-day summer learning session will take place Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 30.

group of children raising their hands to answer a questionDuring summer learning, PK 4 students engage in hands-on activities to prepare them for Kindergarten as well as sharpen skills learned this past school year. Students will continue to develop social connections, make friends, learn skills and have adventures while connecting science, art and math with the world around them.

There is no cost to attend! All students receive breakfast and lunch.

This summer learning program is by INVITATION ONLY. Teachers will register students with parent permission.

 The following elementary campuses will host summer learning. This 19-day summer learning session will be held in-person Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 30 from 8:20 a.m-2:20 p.m. Breakfast is 30 minutes before the start of the program time.

Bilingual, ESL, Kindergarten, and First Grade (BEK1) Summer Learning

student sitting at desk looking at cameraBEK 1 is facilitated through the World Languages Department as the instructional focus is language development aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for incoming kindergarten and first-grade students. TEKS are the foundation for instruction and language development for participating students, which include oral social language, oral school language, phonological development and literacy skills. The program also addresses the affective, linguistic and cognitive needs of the English Learner (EL) and are incorporated throughout the specialized curriculum.

Bilingual or ESL students who completed PK 4 or Kindergarten in the 2021-2022 school year may attend. BEK1 is offered at all AISD summer learning locations for qualifying students. Qualifying students will receive an email invitation from the World Languages Department with instructions on how to apply.

Elementary Summer Learning

Students will have opportunities to check out library books, participate in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities and lessons, as well as STEM or Technology lessons and activities depending on the host campus.
