The Social and Emotional Learning (S.E.L.) Department provides guidance and support for Social and Emotional Learning initiatives.  The department directly supports campuses and district central departments to ensure that all current and anticipated S.E.L. initiatives are implemented to fidelity.

Arlington Independent School District (AISD) takes an integrated and intentional approach to implementing social and emotional learning.  The district has adopted the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) identified competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making as the necessary social and emotional skills to be intentionally taught to all students.  The district’s S.E.L. implementation also includes integrating social and emotional supports into existing student services (i.e. Guidance and Counseling services, PBIS, Student Outreach Services, etc.).

Youth Mental Health First AiD training

Department is offering Youth Mental Health First Aid training to campus staff members and other district personnel in several sessions this school year.  Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach teachers, administrators, and other school staff how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.
