Arlington ISD requires all families to provide proof of their residency each year in order to complete the enrollment and registration process. This is collected because residency determines the school a child will attend. If you have more than one student attending AISD, you will need to submit proof of residency for each student individually through SchoolMint by uploading

Once submitted, your proof of residency will be reviewed by campus staff to verify it meets the acceptable proof of requirements. If it is not accepted, you will be contacted by the campus for further information.

Residency may be documented by uploading one of the following items:

  • Current lease (for 30 days until a utility bill is available).
  • Copy of a current or previous month utility bill (electric, gas or water) which shows the current usage on it.
  • If you have recently purchased your home, a copy of closing papers will suffice until a utility bill is available to reproduce (within 30 days).

RESIDENCY AFFIDAVIT

All students must provide a gas, water, or electric bill as proof of residency for enrollment. If you are living with a relative or friend in the AISD attendance zone and the utility bills are not in your name, a Residency Affidavit must be completed and returned to the school office.

The campus MUST receive the following along with the Residency Affidavit:

  • Both the parent/guardian and the resident must come in person together
  • Both must provide a current government-issued photo ID
  • A copy of a recent gas, water, or electric bill
  • Notary for this form is currently waived due to COVID-19.

GRANDPARENT RESIDENCY

State law and Board policy allow enrollment of students who reside outside of AISD if both the following requirements are met:

  • A grandparent resides within the district, AND
  • The grandparent provides after school care a minimum of four hours or more a day, at least four days a week.

The campus MUST receive the following along with the Grandparent Residency Form:

  • Both parent and grandparent must provide a current government-issued photo ID
  • Both parent and grandparent must provide a copy of a recent gas, water, or electric bill at BOTH the parent and grandparent addresses
  • Parent paycheck stub(s)
  • Notary for this form is currently waived due to COVID-19.

EDUCATIONAL GUARDIANSHIP/POWER OF ATTORNEY

It allows a parent to designate another adult as having significant decision-making and care rights for their child, including enrollment and other educational decisions. Parents are responsible for determining if they need to seek legal guidance before signing as the district cannot provide any legal guidance or advice to parents considering signing this document.

The campus MUST receive the following along with the Educational Guardianship Form:

  • Both the parent and the designated adult caregiver must come in person together
  • Both must provide a current government-issued photo ID
  • A copy of a recent gas, water, or electric bill at the caregiver's address.
