\n\tHello Parents & Guardians,
Just a reminder that Johns Elementary is a uniform campus, and students are expected to wear their uniforms daily. Jeans are permitted only on Fridays and must be paired with a Johns Spirit shirt, sweatshirt, or a uniform shirt.
The following guidelines apply to all students:
\u25b6\ufe0fLabels, decorations, or logos on the outside of clothing are not acceptable.
\u25b6\ufe0fBelts are preferred.
\u25b6\ufe0fAll shirts (except sweatshirts) must be tucked in.
\u25b6\ufe0fBaggy pants, sagging pants, or pant cuffs that drag to the floor are not acceptable (this includes jeans and khaki style pants).
\u25b6\ufe0fALL pants must meet the AISD dress code.
\u25b6\ufe0fALL shoes must meet AISD dress code (shoes must be tied and velcro straps securely fastened).
\u25b6\ufe0fNO sandals, slippers, or Crocs.
\u203c\ufe0fIf parents\/guardians desire an exemption from the uniform policy, they must present a letter stating their philosophical or religious reason to the principal each year. This will be reviewed by the Deputy Superintendent for the approval of an exemption.
\u203c\ufe0fParents\/guardians have 20 school days from the first day of school to apply for an exemption. Exemptions will not be granted after the 20-school-day application period.
\u203c\ufe0fIf a student is not in uniform:

\u25b6\ufe0f2nd Time: Call home, and parents must bring uniforms to school.

\n\tDear Parents\/Guardians,

A gentle reminder regarding campus expectations during STAAR testing, which is scheduled to begin next week. On STAAR testing dates, we will have a closed campus, meaning we are closed to ALL visitors.

This practice assists us in providing our students participating in testing with a secure testing environment and an environment free from added distractions. Please make a note of the following important guidelines:

\ud83d\udeabVisitors will NOT be allowed on campus

\ud83d\udeabEarly student pick-up is strongly discouraged
\u27a1\ufe0fIt is recommended that medical\/dental appointments NOT be scheduled on testing dates. Students need sufficient time to complete the state assessment.

\ud83d\udeabLunch drop-offs will NOT be accepted for any grade level
\u27a1\ufe0fWe ask that all students come to school prepared each day, which includes bringing their lunches to school with them, if applicable.

\n\tWe are excited to invite your families to our Once Upon a Time Literacy Event on Monday, April 27, from 5:00-6:30 PM.

This fun family event is designed to encourage early literacy through storytelling, hands-on activities, books, snacks, crafts, and more. Families will also have the opportunity to dress up as their favorite fairytale characters and enjoy a magical evening together.
