Absences, Tardies & Attendance Information

Studies show that regular attendance is strongly connected to high academic success. Plus, we love seeing your child every day! Learning to be on time for school is an important life skill we teach our students. We appreciate your help in teaching this important habit that will help them be successful in school and life. Absences and tardies can affect a student’s progress and recognition for weekly and monthly perfect attendance awards.

Absences Please call 682-867-7152 to report an absence before 10:30 am. If the office does not receive a call by 10:30 a.m., you may receive a call at home or work regarding the absence. AISD policy allows 24 hours to provide an excuse for an absence. If you are unable to call, please send a note explaining the reason for your child’s absence the day your child returns to school. If a child is absent for 3 days in a row, a doctor’s note is required to have the absences excused. Please read the AISD Student Code of Conduct for more information on attendance and excused absence reasons.

Tardy Policy All students are expected to be in class and ready to learn at 8:20 each morning. Students arriving to class after 8:20 am are considered tardy. When students are late, they miss morning work, preparation for the day, and breakfast, and entering late to class presents a disruption to the learning environment.

Leaving Campus during the school day If a child is checked out for a medical appointment, a doctor’s note should be presented to the office when the child returns to school. If the child returns the same day with a signed doctor’s note, he/she will be counted as present for the day.
