Virtual Learning Curriculum
Virtual learning will provide students with an ambitious curriculum and offer real-time instruction with their classroom teachers supplemented with self-guided lessons. An emphasis will be placed on student achievement, numerical grades used to calculate GPA's and daily attendance. Devices and online connectivity will be available for students who need them. Online tutoring, support services for Special Education students, and Bilingual and ESL students will be provided. Students in Specialized Programs or Career Tech programs will continue on their path in the virtual learning environment.

- Students will be allowed to participate in athletics if they choose the virtual path.
- Athletic classes
- Students who choose the virtual path will be allowed to come to the athletic period in person. This will be encouraged to make sure our students are prepared both physically and mentally. Those students who are not able to attend in person will be given a virtual assignment.
- Significant improvements have been made to online modules across all disciplines at the JH and HS level emulating a very successful practice beta tested at one school in the spring.
- Summer band and drill team startup dates are being reassessed in light of current conditions. Announcements about district-wide approaches to marching band aligned with UIL guidelines will be forthcoming. Arlington ISD has not yet canceled the competition season yet.
- 90% Attendance for credit; Taken daily; Secondary will need to take attendance daily for each course
- Daily progress required; Information from Seesaw or Canvas shows the student made progress that day; Learning progress evidenced from teacher/student interactions made that day; and/or the student completes and submits assignments planned for that day.

- Services will be provided in both asynchronous (not live) and synchronous (live) learning as determined by ARD.
- In limited circumstances, if safety protocols permit, students may be asked to make an appointment to receive in-person services at their assigned school.
- Students who are in a self-contained classroom participating in certain programs will continue to have the opportunity to receive services and engage in learning in the online environment. More information will be available soon.

- A model schedule to be developed to provide routine direct synchronous (live) instruction in the target language
- While fine arts instruction is ideal in the in-person environment, students should expect teachers to provide both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (not live) learning opportunities following the class schedule.

- Services and instruction will be provided for all programs.
EL bilingual and ESL instruction will continue and be integrated into teachers’ instruction.
Students qualifying for bilingual or English as a Second Language (ESL) services will continue to receive support in the online environment. Teachers will implement learning strategies to support students’ language development in accordance with Board policy and the District’s established bilingual/ESL model.
- Certain courses may not be offered (list to be provided) due to specialized equipment
- Students can choose to continue in a course not offered online and come to school just for that period (if school closure is not in progress)
- Internships will continue in alignment with state and health restrictions. If this is not feasible, teachers assigned to work with students enrolled in these courses will provide the needed online instruction to facilitate the students’ opportunities to earn course credits until the students can return in-person to their assigned internships.
- Students who are identified as needing additional support will have the opportunity to participate in online tutoring sessions. Students invited to participate in “after-school” tutoring will be contacted by their teacher and provided a schedule at that time.

We are under an order from Tarrant County Public Health to keep our buildings closed in order to protect teachers, students and staff and to avoid a possible strain on the EMS and hospital systems in Tarrant County.

Understanding that learning in the virtual space is challenging, the special education team has mapped out a plan that will give students services that align with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP.)
The PARENT RESOURCES team has prepared many resources to help parents and guardians support virtual learners. Please see the resource library to find the right resource for your family.
Devices and connectivity will be provided to any student who needs them. Check out our Technology Resources for returning to school.
Breakfast and lunch service will be available for all eligible students. All of the information is available from our FOOD SERVICES team.
Fine Arts and Athletics programs will be available to the extent that they can be performed in a virtual environment. More information is provided in the Curriculum section of this page.
