As parents and guardians, you know your children best; if they don&#8217;t seem well, they probably aren&#8217;t-keep them home and consult a health care professional if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>During the year, please keep all emergency phone numbers current in the clinic-your child may need you!!<\/p>\n<h2>Keep Your Child Home When:<\/h2>\nThe child has a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.7 degrees Celsius or higher<br \/>\nThe child has diarrhea or vomiting<br \/>\nThe child has a rash of unknown origin<br \/>\nThe child has red, runny eyes or wakes up with eyes &#8220;glued&#8221; shut (early symptoms of &#8220;pink eye&#8221;)<br \/>\nThe child complains of ear pain with or without fever\n<h2>Your Child May Return When:<\/h2>\nThe child is fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or other fever reducer<br \/>\nThe child is free of diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours<br \/>\nYou have consulted a health care professional*<br \/>\nYou have consulted a health care professional for the appropriate antibiotic therapy*<br \/>\nYou have consulted a health care professional for appropriate care*\n<p>*Upon returning to school, the child must bring a signed release from the health care professional to the school nurse&#8217;s office or report to the nurse free of symptoms<\/p>\n<p>REMEMBER: Medications must be kept in the school clinic with a doctor&#8217;s and a parent&#8217;s signature authorizing permission for dispensing the medication, including cough drops and other over the counter medicines. Click here for the authorization form.<\/p>\n<h2>Texas State Law Requires Immunizations Against the Following Diseases:<\/h2>\n<h3>DPT, DTaP, DT, Td<\/h3>\n<p>5 doses of any combination unless the 4th dose was given on or after 4th birthday. Age 7 years or older: 3 doses of any combination, including one on or after 4th birthday. (Pertussis not required.) 1 dose of Td required 10 years after last dose of DTP\/DTaP\/DT.<\/p>\n<h3>POLIO<\/h3>\n<p>4 doses unless the 3rd dose was given on or after the 4th birthday.<\/p>\n<h3>MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA (MMR)<\/h3>\n<p>2 doses of a measles-containing vaccine:1st dose on or after 1st birthday. 2nd dose by age 5 or entry into kindergarten.<\/p>\n<h3>HAEMOPHILUS INFLUENZA TYPE b (Hib)<\/h3>\n<p>3 doses before or 1 dose after age 15 months to 5 years or U.S. doctor&#8217;s certificate stating student had disease. NOT REQUIRED AFTER AGE 5.<\/p>\n<h3>HEPATITIS B<\/h3>\n<p>3 doses for children in grades K-11 in 2005-06. 3 doses for children in grades K-12 in 2006-07.<\/p>\n<h3>VARICELLA (CHICKENPOX)<\/h3>\n<p>1 dose on or after 1st birthday (or parent-validated history of chickenpox illness) for children in grades K-5 and 7-11 in 2005-06.1 dose on or after 1st birthday (or parent-validated history of chickenpox illness) for children in grades K-12 in 2006-07.<\/p>\n<p>Two doses are required if vaccine is given @ 13 years of age or older.
