Bond-funded improvements at Sherrod Elementary begin

Site work about to begin at Sherrod - cones up in the driveway

Jan. 12, 2017 - Bond-funded school improvements for Sherrod Elementary began this week.

The work started Monday on improving and expanding the parking lot, and interior work will start later this month. The inside work includes converting existing classrooms into dedicated STEM labs and a strings room. Over spring break the gym is scheduled to get a new floor. The school will also get a new security vestibule at the school entrance, but that work will likely be done over the summer.

A number of other life-cycle and deficiency upgrades will be done to the building throughout the rest of this school year and into next summer, including new plumbing, HVAC units, landscaping, interior finishes, site lighting and electrical improvements like additional plugs in each classroom. The K-pod will also undergo renovations and the parking lot will be expanded.
